Golden Vow

I got the Ash for this. My main weapon already has another Ash, but I was wondering if this would work: I put GV on another weapon. Right before a battle I cast it, then change to my regular weapon for the battle. Will the Golden Vow buff still work (it says it is an aura effect that affects you and your allies) or do I need to have the weapon that has GV in hand for it to work?

I do believe that should work, but I'd wait for another to say or test it out, yourself.

Yes, this is a very good strat if you don't have the faith to cast the incantation version. I would put it on the lightest weapon you have and just use it to cast the buff onto yourself.

Elden Ring has a few different types of buffs, aura, body, special, weapon, physick. You can only have one of each, and golden vow (ash of war and incantation), falls under the aura buff.

You can use a dagger, which is pretty light.
If you plan to level faith to 25, I would recommend the spell, though, It lasts longer and is stronger

Tip: you can tell when the buff expires because while active, there's a holy glow around you. (And this sticks around if you swap weapons, so you can see that it's not tied to the weapon)

Both permanent and temporary buffs also have a matching indicator under your healthbar but good luck interpreting what the symbols mean. Shoutouts to all the people going through the entire game without realizing Fia stole 5% of their max HP.

Yes.... that is why most players put it on a dagger to minimize weight. Like pretty sure the wiki page itself even says to pop it onto a dagger and use it as a buff stick.
