Why was black flame/destined death nerfed for the dlc?
Found out a couple days ago that there’s a couple bosses in the dlc that had the % max hp damage effects of black flame and destined death reduced by a large amount

I’ve been wracking my brain trying to understand why this change was made but I legitimately have no idea what the thought process was - other status effects that do similar % max health damage (bleed, frost, rot, poison) have to contend with somewhat higher numbers sure, but they also got a ton of indirect buffs in the dlc through stronger items/talismans and are functionally way better at killing bosses. For what reason then does it make sense to then nerf a niche set of damaging effects that were already far outclassed by those other statuses in the base game?

Idk, it just seems annoying to have a weapon explicitly stated to be made for killing gods (Godslayer Greatsword/Black Blade), then go to fight Radahn/Miquella and find out that they have a specific modifier against that weapon. But then on top of that to also get outclassed by someone doing something like repeatedly throwing pots of ♥♥♥♥ and kicking them (fetid pots+PFBT)

thats an interesting find.
Has the dlc already been data mined?

Oh yea. It's wide open at this point. Lots of cut content you can tell they were running out time and had to cut lots, including a lot of stuff to do with miquella
This yeah

On that note a couple references found in the game’s files to blackflame/destined death-related things that might suggest there was to be additional items for destined death/black flame weapons big example being the Putrescent Knight being labeled as the Knight of the Gloam-eyed Queen in the files

That would make this nerf more understandable as it would put BF and DD in the same boat as other statuses. But the nerf being kept in without any items to compensate is where I get completely lost

While I know it's not standard practice (for any company, really), I'd love if they shed some light on how that came about. They had so much time to work on the DLC, I'm surprised that stuff had to be cut because of time constraints. The engine was already in place and the DLC didn't introduce any technological advancements to the game (as far as I'm aware), so it's strange. The ending could have used some loose-end-tying, certainly worth a release delay
