Banned for nothing -- all I did was a Save File Backup?
I just logged into Elden Ring and found out my account has been penalized for 180 days. I haven’t modded the game or used any hacked items.

The only thing I can think of is that I used the Nexus Tools Character Manager (https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/3103?tab=description) to download a character just before Radagon. I defeated him and backed up the save file to get the last two ending achievements (Elden Lord and Frenzied Flame within five minutes). I deleted this character directly after.

But there was no stats or weapon or enemy modification, so I don't understand why this would result in a ban... I did this once before two years prior and never got banned (but I didn't get any achievements). I also didn't find anyone else using this tool getting banned.

Is it possible that the extremely close proximity of these achievements resulted was flagged and resulted in the ban?

The thing is, I didn’t notice the ban until I transferred my data from my old PC to a new computer a month later. This data did not have the character I got the achievements with. Is it possible that I somehow got banned for transferring my files from computers?

I don’t mind waiting the 180 days since I’ve already beaten the game and don’t plan on playing anytime soon. However, I don't want to get banned again (obviously). Is there anything I can do to ensure I don't get banned that does not include deleting my save file? Am I fine to keep everything as it is because none of my characters are modded?

Please help, thanks!

You didn't get banned for nothing, you got banned because you used a modded save file and the game detected it, you know it's true.

The thing is that I used this tool two years earlier and nothing happened. And everyone else using this tool had no issues. I suppose it must have been the souls difference between the two characters. So PSA if you plan on using this: make sure your character has zero souls.

You complain about the penalty and you used mods, any mod is a reason for a ban, regardless of whether it's for appearance.
You deserve it.

He has admitted he goofed. No reason condemning the guy.

Restoring a save file from a much older version of the gam can result in a ban.

Restoring a save file where the same character has way more runes (ie, before you resotews your had 0 runes, and the restored save had 100k runes) makes it look to the system like you added runes thru a save file edit. - ban

Save files have a unique ID to you embedded in them. Using a downloaded save file without overwriting the embedded ID. - ban

It's not that serious lmao. The only thing they check for is "impossible" stats or flags and things that don't conform to the appropriate parameters. These things can be, but aren't limited to weapons that do impossible damage with a single R1, graces unlocked in an area that hasn't ever been flagged as unlocked, a grace unlocked in a boss room while the boss is still flagged as alive, or a character that's RL10 but has 99 in every stat. Unobtainable items will also get you flagged such as the ragged armor set or Milicents sword, just as a few examples.
Runes 100% objectively had nothing to do with it. They don't cross reference time tables and determine if you gained too many items or runes. There's no "embedded IDs" lmao.
As a hypothetical example, one could start a character and have 100% completion with all unlocks and a full stack of all crafting items and that character can be under 5mins playtime and you still won't get banned. I can then back it up, send it to my buddy, and we can both play the same exact save file, summon each other, and neither of us will get banned.
To put it simply, their system is very beaureaucratic, as long as the proper flags have been activated and the proper parameters are being observed then it doesn't care how long the character has existed, how quickly it progessed, or how quickly it obtained anything.

OP was banned because there was something "impossible" in the save file. It's as simple as that. Whether OP knew about it or not is another matter.

Thanks for the input. But I do really think its the save files.

I just got this email from Bandai: "Upon examining your statements, the cause of your restriction would be downloading a save file from outside sources. This would count as modifying game data. It is only recommended to transfer save files that is available within the cloud storage of your device, in this case would be Steam's cloud storage"

So lol yeah it seems to be the transferring of outside save data
