The Shadow Sunflower Boss
Just a short story of my experience with this boss. I went in with just me and my clone and I think I got him to the 2nd phase (killing first version off once) on the first try and having no idea what to expect, but it seemed like a really annoying fight so I thought I'd replace the mimic with a real player... oh my...

The first three guys I summoned all died within a minute of entering the boss room and failing to progress to stage 2, the 4th guy saw where he was and NOPED out right after I crossed over into the boss arena >.>

So at this point I'm getting frustrated and summoned two guys instead of one - those guys were total chads and we cleared all three phases like cake.

Hate the boss , love the design , flame strike or anything with fire melts it very quickly , thank god for that

The two chads seemed to be staying in front of the boss and hitting it in its face - guess that does more damage? Left me to spam attack it's base and the two player groups helped split its attention between us which is exactly how I like things. Heck they even aoe healed me between phases when I didn't even know there was a 3rd phase :-P

Hit it's head , easier said than done cause most of it's attacks are like the get off me button just like with bosses such as astel , the base of the plant receives half the damage so never focus there

yea, it takes big damage from it's face and from fire damage. you can kill it pretty quickly by focusing on those two things

Yup. Once I realized he had so many life gauges, I realized oh, need to go for the head.

I didn't think it was bad though.

Honestly this is one of my favorite fights in elden ring. Felt like a more classic souls fight, and not anime protagonist radahn.

Well even if I'd known that at the time, I'd probably still have been spam attacking the base - rather do half damage for as long as possible than have tiny windows at 100% damage... I feel like I still did a ton of damage... I mean heck I got him to phase 2 with that strat by myself...

I hate the holy explosion , it ruins the fight for me , the rest is honestly easy , even his very delayed charge attack and the thorns as well

On my first playthrough i just used the starfist on the base as well , that weapon is nasty and it's heavy attack carried me through many fights until i met the final boss

I'm not sure why but that explosion barely did 1/4th hp damage to me, I'm tanky, but I wasn't specifically gearing against holy

There is an explosion where he explodes three times in a row , i don't know how to dodge that so i just tank it , it annoyed me

I gotta agree. I have no idea how to dodge that and in phase 3 the sequential blast will annihilate me unless I'm watching my stamina. But that ended up just being part of the strategizing for me.

it's one of the few bosses in the DLC that seems actually fun. No 20 hit combos or anything like that.
