Staff scaling

Staves have a scaling value for 2, sometimes 3, other attributes. For example, Meteorite Int S and Str D. Question: does this other scaling affect sorcery scaling, or only the never-used physical attack? Does anyone really use the physical attack of staves?

This. Only non-physical stats affect catalyst scaling, be it staff or seal (Int, Fth or Arc). Str scaling has no effect on spell buff. There are two exceptions: Clawmark seal (scales off Str) and Frenzied flame seal (scales off Dex and Str along with other stats). Worth noting however that if you have a dual-scaling catalyst like Albinauric staff, some spells will only scale off Int (or Fth, if this is a seal) portion of the scaling, making them weaker than on a pure-scaling catalyst regardless of displayed spellbuff. These spells are buffs and heal incantations.

Not besides the special Spinning Weapon on the Carian Regal Scepter, or to be cute in PvP.
