The guy in white with the creepy mask? Yeah, you shouldn't attack him. I mean, it's not the end of the world, he's beatable and you don't miss an enormous amount if you kill him. But since you're still right at the beginning of the game, I would recommend restarting with a fresh save and being polite to him for now, it will make your game easier in the long run. Now you know not to attack NPCs.

Yep. That's Varre. He's... dubiously friendly. As I said, I'd recommend restarting the game with a fresh save, you haven't gotten very far. You can forge ahead with this save if you want, but you're going to miss a few pieces of equipment and the much easier route to get to one of the endgame areas.

So follow what I said, use target lock and if you can not lock target dont attack it and even if you can lock target if it dont attack you when you get too near then dont attack it

Dont kill NPCs and Varre give you quest that may help you.

A lesson learned. Further down, there's NPCs that use actual enemies model that can screw up an entire quest line if you attack them.

Kill anything that moves is an option, but you'll do well to get the mentality to only attack what attacks you first.
