How does Shabriri's Woe work?

My interpretation of the in-game description was, that the talisman shifts a boss' focus to the player wearing it. I thought it could be helpful during coop, however, I cannot make out any noticeable difference to my normal coop sessions.

Bosses do not prioritize me and (as usual) a boss' attention goes to the player who hit it last.
I play as a melee build, so proximity should not be the issue (I guess).

Did I get something wrong about the talisman and how can I make it work during coop?

if someone hits a boss it will focus its attention on the person that hit them, but if it is deciding who to target, for example wen you enter the boss fog right after the host, it will pick you instead.
i only played with it on low level, would be interresting to know if for example it also works like this on radahn starting phase, normally it always targets the host no matter what.

Thank you for your reply. That makes the usefulness of the talisman rather questionable, since once the fight is on, the situations where the boss can select a target without bias (i.e. prior attacks) are very rare.

it is indeed, if you want to play a tank it will give a small advantage in taking agro on some occasions, if the host doesnt know you use it or how it works (if the host/target runs out of range it seems more likely that the boss swaps back to the user of this thing)
but its kind of waste of a talisman slot, the duelists armor set pieces has the same effect so is also a good option
