I do, back in my days I used to play these games :

Ultima Online and Wing Commander from 1997 and 1996, Battlefield 2 when I still was young and could play fps games, world of warcraft box bought on launchday 2004, final fantasy vii for the playstation 2 I still have.
I have nintendo game boy and my basement too, it's still working. i have super mario land on it.
I'm an old school gangster video gamer that has been around the block for a long time. I was just fearful that Elden Ring would be too much for me to handle
There are some people out there waiting to get summoned. Some are there because they like giving a helping hand to strangers and some of them are happy if more action is left to them. Of course some are also plain bad, and occasionally some people will expect more from their host. Just embrace that the multiplayer element is chaotic by design.
But yeah there is still a ton you can do without bringing multiplayer into it. The only thing that you can't really circumvent through alternatives is the occasional platforming.
The game also has a message system too. Players write messages on the floor composed out of a limited selection of words and phrases, and those messages appear in the same place in the worlds of other players. Often they will give you location-specific hints about where to go or what is currently effective to use. Sometimes they are pranks but usually they are either harmless or pointing you toward overly obvious danger.
Agreed.
You are right, there is a way to counteract age related decline in reflexes and cognitive motoric ability (dexterity) and reaction times and that is :
physical activity, regular and frequent gym exercise , and eating healthy foods

But me? I've been a nerd my whole life and is paying the price for it. By being a nerd I mean that I have since around 1995 only sat in my chair playing video games hours upon hours everyday, no work no gym, no exercise, no forest trips on a bike, no mountain climbs, no friends, no socialization with anyone.
Just gaming. I'm on welfare disability due to mental disorders so I dont have to worry about money, i get $3200 usd a month by the norwegian government since 2001 and they bought me a nice apartment to live in.
But this passive lifestyle has lead to a bigger age related decline then normally, so I am even slower now then the average 35-45 year old.
I tried that Halo Infinite FPS game when it first came out just to test my meddle as I used to be a champion in Unreal Tournament, Quake 1-2 , Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, doom 1-2 in my teens. I was also good in real time strategy games such as command & conqueror and red alert and dune 2000, warcraft 1-3.
But now when I tried Halo Infinite multiplayer I got crushed by young kids and it made me angry, and I dont like being angry. They just mowed me down like I was nothing with their super fast lightning twitch reflexes. I wasnt angry at the kids, but at myself for letting myself go. It was a stark reminder of the hard life I've lived in my chair.
But atleast I have managed to save up some money and buy myself a good ergonomical chair that easen the burden on my back and neck and I signed up to a gym the other day too, the gym opened right across the street so I just go there in the middle of the night and have the place for myself. I will focus on cardio and dexterity exercises so maybe one day I can be a good video gamer again.
I badly want Elden ring tho, I enjoy sitting and watching elden rings youtube videos on my television, it looks so fun and the graphics is just crazy beautiful. I think my computer can run it, I have rtx 3060 ti, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, 240hz gsync curved aoc monitor, Ryzen 7 5700G.
I just fear that it will upset me if I buy it and i keep dying over and over because i am too slow

Yep im thinking based
Anyways, if you pay attention to video game tournaments (not only ER or DS) you will know that participants and winners are young people in their early 20s and even younger.
Age does matter.
there will never be an easy mode or anything like that, the game is hard, you will die, you will rage, but the same goes for people of any age - thats how the game is for all of us.
lots of ppl talking about decline in reflexes as you age, or about pro gamers, and tbh that just is not relevant. will you have a harder time getting thru the game vs when you were 20? yeah, probably. but you dont need to be at your peak to play thru the game. you dont need anywhere near pro level gamer skills to get thru the game and have a good time.
practice, patience and strategy matter just as much as reflexes, and you should have MORE capacity for those things as you age.
