Sir Gideon Ofnir Appreciation Thread

Why he's one of my favorite Elden Ring characters, and possibly my favorite Soulsborne magic-user:

~ Powerful enough to create (or at least control) his own pocket dimension as secret headquarters.

~ Civil & polite to you, once you prove your worth.

~ By far the biggest in-game source of intel & lore, helps that the voice-acting is good.

~ Serious no-nonsense attitude helps him focus on his mysterious goals.

~ Very cool armor set, yet lets his bodyguard have an even cooler set.

~ Feigns indifference about his grown warrior foster-daughter, but cares enough to not want her cursed by a bad potion

~ Rewards lots of nice spells if you provide him intel on the demigods.

~ A true classic glass-canon super-mage, and the more intel you give him after beating demigods, the more powerful he becomes with more spells to use.

~ Dignified & confident enough to give you his boss speech without hiding behind a cutscene

~ Seriously though, he can destroy you real quick too, if you're not prepared with anti-magic gear, he spams spells worse than any Lucaria mage

~ Reads lots of books, to become the All-Knowing

Good is an understatement I think - his VA was fantastic

He haven't killed a single demigod, but still feels like he can act superior. Just sits in his castle and then tries to rob you, like a dishonorable insect he is.

he's also a bloody traitor and he's incredibly selfish.
he also has a lisp.

disagree. I like that he has his grubby little fingers in most everything and do be doing nefarious ♥♥♥♥ behind the scenes, but he doesn't get an ending like the rest of the notable tarnished. His fight at its core IS LITERALLY AN NPC BOSS FIGHT. And the backstory is so damn vague, especially his talk about how the player character is just a noob. If he or other tarnished have brought back great runes they should elaborate on that, but as it stands gideon appears the biggest loser while the rest are trying to change the order of the lands between. All that meddling and data collection only for him to fight for the preservation of the current broken order because "oh a mere man cannot kill a god". This was literally the culmination of Marika's plan anyways, not eternal suffering. First, bring the order to its knees. then get the two strongest Tarnished and whoever wins gets to challenge the final obstacle and if they win they get to have it their way. He didn't even try to influence the form the elden ring takes at all. I was hoping he would be an actually realized Oscar(like his cut content) and actually challenge you at the very last moment. He was devoted to the Fingers but was looking at so many other possible options for the succession of this silly order jazz. Him handing me Black Flame Protection made me think he was in league with the godskins even, using his devotion to the fingers as a mask(since the leader of the godskins was an empyrean herself). But all that potential just for him to be a blip in the way of the 2 last fights.
also his hammer doesn't cast spells.

I thought that was mostly because he hated Seluvis because Seluvis ended up turning Dolores into a puppet?
