Commander Gaius sucks mega balls
The charge attack is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ janky and it's inconsistent. I could dodge to left, right, forwards, but it still hits me. There are also many times where the boss hits you MULTIPLE TIMES in a single attack leading to one-shotting you, how hasn't this been fixed already?

Stop cheesing bosses with summons and actually learn the game, you'll have an easier time against Gaius, he's a great boss.

What? I don't even use summons, just admit that it has issues. I enjoyed Rellana and Divine Beast far more than Gaius because they don't have any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Please give me some tips on how to create a toon that can be 1-shot. I try and try but nothing in this game can 1-shot me, except perhaps Radahn's meteor attack at the start of his phase 2.

His whole 'steed' is a hitbox during charge, so it's no surprise you get hit most of the time unless you're extremely precise with your rolls.
Just use shield - mofo deserves it.

He becomes way more bearable when you chase him down so he doesn't go for his own charge attack so often

He just suffers from Waterfowl syndrome where one of his attacks is either intentionally or not overloaded in some way, Boar Charge being the outliar.

There are two ways to dodge that charge attack:
1. Keep sprinting to the side and dodge in that direction at last moment.
2. This is my prefered version - keep running towards him and dodge into him at last second.

If you do it right you won't get any damage, it's a bit tricky but doable. I prefer to dodge towards him because that way i won't run into walls or some ♥♥♥♥ when moving to side, it's more reliable in my opinion.

I've practiced multiple times and I still can't reliably dodge the charge attack. However, there are ways to do that, 4 chocies
1. Use the Windy Crystal Tear
2. Use the feather talisman
3. Light roll
4. Mount torrent provide i-frame, so you can mount when gaius is about to hit you

With enhanced rolling, you should be able to dodge the charge attack reliably. Note that the flask only lasts for 3 min and the feather talisman makes you take more damage. So you will have to master the other attacks.

I personally never tried choice 3 and 4, but I've seen other people using them

I used mega balls to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of him. To be fair, that was after countless hours of repeated deaths learning how to smash Gaius balls.

yeah gaius have bad hit box and some atk does have multi multi hit problem just like the old bleed dog bug
i also hate that boss bos cos when i fight him he keep spaming the 6 atk combo over and over again and only leave me window to get 1 hit in after it
light roll can avoid most of his atk becos u have more i frame and roll further
with light roll u can roll through the charge easy
he hit like a truck and atk very often with short window for u to counter and the healing window is when u roll through his charge atk
if u get 1 shot from him then u better get more scardu tree bless

nah hes not. all mounted bosses are cancer.
he is however better now than he was with his charge hitbox fixed.

Is there a major difference between light rolling and medium rolling on this boss or something? Because I keep hearing people complain about his charge attack hit box but I don't think I got hit by it a single time after I figured out the timing after 2 or 3 attempts. My big issue was the combo where he attacks for what feels like 15 seconds between him and his boar.

Yes there is a difference, medium roll you really have to dodge right before getting hit which could be hard to pull of constantly. With light dodge you get a bigger window to dodge.

thought light and medium are both 13i frame and 8 recovery? light rolls slightly further though?
heavy goes down to 12+16

He's really not a good boss, he has legitimate collision issues.
