A "skip to DLC" option
I wish there was a skip to DLC option in this game, like with The Witcher 3 and Cyperpunk 2077
I truly do love this game but it cannot be denied it is long both for the first time and any follow-up play throughs, it might take maybe 50+ hours (being generous) just to get to the DLC (I know there is the skip to Mohg thru Varre's quest but the DLC is built for the late game characters plus you need to kill Radahn to access the DLC) and I just wish I could skip to that point and just go from there, especially since there are other builds I want to try that require me to use a different character class meaning I would need to start from the begging of the game which is very exhausting

The game does demand a lot...it really is still for Dark Souls fans at its core...I have 2 more characters that I had in Moghs arena ready for the DLC...one in NG+

I don't mind it, but I get that people would be a bit frustrated but it is what it is...and it don't look like the tones like it's changing

Before the DLC Miyazaki addressed the "quest" problem and also took note that Melania may be a bit too hard...then he releases this lol

"it really is still for Dark Souls fans at its core" weird huh? almost like its still a souls game its not like it wasn't stated months in advance we needed to be at this point plus after the initial play-through it take no time to get the requirements and even in a first play-through why would you wanna skip straight to the endgame? then there is the fact that the dlc is objectively harder at the start summon signs shouldn't be bogged down with people who aren't prepared for the trouble that is to come with the dlc

10s a bit pushy...you still need talismans and let's not forget the medallion for the lift and stupid ♥♥♥♥ like that...

I remember thinking it would be easy just in NG + but there is a ton of ♥♥♥♥ I forgot I had to do and it took me a bit

Yep, Im a pretty low tier souls player and I can start a new character and get to the DLC in under 10 hours. And you can definitely make it through the DLC even at a lower level like 90. Just collect more fragments than you might normally use for each boss.

That said, I agree, a skip to DLC would certainly be convenient. But From isnt exactly known for being convenient, so I would keep your hopes up sadly

There is a pathway to the DLC. A pathway many consider to be... unnatural.

I mean... It's literally beyond endgame content, and designed that way. Letting you access it on low level/new playthrough is counter-intuitive.

Idk, it just feels like a non-issue to me. Before doing a NG+, I tend to do everything I can and want to on a playthrough. So not being in the beyond endgame area ASAP doesn't bother me.

I can see the QOL of life need for it, but on the list of things that could be better, this seems pretty far down to me I guess.

Do you even need to go to Altus Plateau?

There is a skip for Mohg, and a skip for Radahn (jumping off the cliff near where Millicent is at) and it is just a matter of getting strong enough to beat those 2 and you are in. I saw a speedrunner do it in 50 minutes.

I think they really did shoot themselves in the foot by restricting the DLC to a late-game boss. They could have sold even more than the 5 million they already have if they included some sort of "Jump to DLC" option.

Take me, for example, I kinda want to play the DLC again, but don't want to go through the slog of the base game. I guess I'll pass.

Neither of the bosses are late game and in a NG+ you shouldn't even need to do any grinding, just go straight to them.

Honesty if you beat the game once, You could can get to the DLC in 6 to 8 hour (if you are at my skill level or better, anyway) from starting a new character... now I don't have all the stuff I need for the DLC, but I still got there.

Use these two mods and you can skip all of the grind that the main game has. I just wish from would add a boss rush system, I enjoyed my first go around in the game but asking players to run trough the massive map for new characters is crazy in the other souls games the gaps in between areas were more reasonable.

you can get white mask varre quest progressed enough to then just get summoned to mohg and beat him then go to dlc
WereChicken Jul 11, 2024 @ 12:37am
eh, having a DLC you need to finish the base game to get access to is actually really common for fromsoft. Hell ashes of ariendal was actually a bit of an outlier as you could get to that very early (was still balanced around endgame though)
Tom Bombathrill Jul 11, 2024 @ 12:48am
I got there in like 2 hours
>Get Reduvia to +10 (you can do this at level 1)
>Godfrey
>white mask varre into mohg
>bird farm
>kill Radahn
>Kill Mohg
