The games run heavily about "rules of 3"
Almost every parent pair have 3 children
Their objectives are different, Messmer wanting to kill everyone who doesnt fit within in the Golden Order, while Miquella seeks to create an Age of Compassion.
Where they differ the most though, is with their allies, Messmer inspires genuine loyalty and camaraderie, while Miquella relies on fake loyalty through brainwash.
Half Sibling = Same either father/mother but different another
Wanting to piece everything together and see the big picture.
Also, seems like we won't know much about Marika anymore since ER is ended with this DLC.
But I suppose there can be ER 2 just like Dark Soul
Radagon went and had Rykard, Ranni, and Radagon, Marika birthed Morgot, Godwin, and Mohg. (Somewhere along the line Radagon and Marika also birthed Malenia and Miquella.)
Messmer was killing the hornsent because Marika basically told him to so he wouldn't follow her to the lands between, which given the name makes me think it's the 'material plane' and Shadow lands is the sort of purgatory or heck realm. Miquella returned to the shadow lands to gain godhood and basically destroy everything that Radagon and Marika had set up when achieving godhood. If I had to guess why messmer didn't try anything against his brother, (Full brother since they're both from Radagon and Marika) Is because he probably couldn't, or it was against what their mother told him.
I personally think he trapped his brother though in Enir-Ilim since his ember is needed to burn away that darkness, but that was the most he could achieve against him. (Keeping in mind Miquella could sway his heart at a moments notice pretty much) As to why the giant egg takes you to the lands of shadow, Idfk. It could be as simple as Miquella left behind magic in a gateway type of deal since they dragged Mohg's body through, and you just sorta hopped on that train without your own ticket.
