SOTE: Every boss lore/story significance (it's disappointing)
So; her's what we learn of every boss in this DLC

-Divine Beast Dancing Lion: everything is in the name, it's people dancing while disguised as a divine lion. They faught Messmer.

-Rellana Twin Moon Knight: it's the sister of Renalla. She's good with swords.

-Commander Gaius: He's an albinauric and friend with Radahn.

-Messmer the Impaler: He's got a serpent inside him (somehow) so Marika sealed it and sent him to make war in the Shadowlands, he didn't like it much. Some of his soldiers turned on him.

-Romina, Saint of the Bud: she became a centipede-scorpion due to the rot (somehow, instead of rotting away like literaly any other character even the goddess of rot herself...) and she'd like to get a flower bud to bloom. (it's a filler boss)

-Putrescent Knight: it's dead remains who serve Trina because her nectar made them finaly rest (it's a filler boss)

-Bayle the Dread: it's the dragon who f*cked Placidussax up and he also got f*cked up in the process. He's evil. He's the father of the drakes.

-Midra Lord of Frenzied Flame: he wasn't strong enough to become lord of frienzied flame and his wife told him to resist becoming lord of frienzied flame (nice contradiction on so little lore). He becomes lord of frienzied flame when we fight him, because (somehow) now he's strong enough to do so (ngl his lore makes no sense, each thing contradicts the next).

-Scadutree Avatar: nothing more than what its name implies, it's like an erdtree avatar, but for the scadutree.

-Radahn Consort of Miquella: Miquella raised his half-brother back from the dead using the dead body of Mohg (don't ask me how it works and why he couldn't just bring Radahn back in his own body, the process clearly renewed the body anyway so Radahn's body would have been just as good as Mohg as far as we know).
Miquella wanted Radahn as his consort because (somehow) Radahn was kind and strong (you know, the guy all about being a god of War and muscles) so much so that he sent Malenia kill Radahn to be able to bring him back to life as his consort (instead of just making Malenia his consort since if she kills Radahn she's obviously stronger than him, on top of potentialy curing her from the rot, or he could at least have killed her and put her soul in a new body not host of the scarlet rot). Dear lord this character is terribly written...
(No mention of Godwyn or the Haligtree, why the F did he bother with those ? never going to know)

I had started to do the minor bosses but they are so thin and devoid of any interesting lore I'm not even going to bother, their lore boils down to desctibing them anyway.

Doesn't matter how I look at it, I can't help to feel like this DLC adds nothing to the story told in the base game and on its own it's neither interesting nore coherent enough to be worth bothering.

The DLC lore is honestly so bad it makes the base game worse, and makes me think retroactively all the previous souls games lore is not nearly as good as people pretend. It's just shockingly bad.

What is the point of the haligtree? Why does Miquella need to get "kidnapped" by Mogh, why not just work with him? Why does Miquella need Radahn if Malenia is stronger and he's just going to mind control everyone anyway? Why does Miquella even need to have Radahn killed in the first place, just mind control him over (isn't there a "vow" anyway, just like the final cutscene says)?

Miquella alone turns out to be absolutely garbage lore, not to mention St Trina which is completely disconnected from the main game (so St Trina was going around spreading poison everywhere, killing everyone with her "nectar"? why? makes zero sense).

I can't help but feel disappointed too. There were a lot of things from the base game that were seemingly left out to be expanded on during the DLC that don't get mentioned at all. I really wanted to know more about Marika, Melina, Messmer, Godwyn, the GEQ, the gates of divinity, the Scadu tree, etc. they did give us some info on most of those but I don't really find any of it to be satisfying.

And Miquella too. They built him up so much in the base game and made it seem like he had some crazy plan. Which I guess he kind of did, he did become a god for the final fight. But what was the point of the Haligtree, the unalloyed gold, and all of the Godwyn/eclipse stuff? It doesn't even get mentioned at all in the dlc. I've seen some people theorize that due to his curse of eternal youth, he starts and abandoned projects like a child would do. But that seems disappointing as well. The genius and fearsome Miquella that Malenia and others dedicated their lives to is just a little kid with ADHD?

Plus the DLC and main game basically have zero connection at all, except for the Miquella, Radahn, Mohg stuff. Other than that there is basically zero connection with anything else in the main game.

I could keep going about other things I feel are lacking but this is already long enough. Overall tho, I did really enjoy the DLC and I did like (most of) the lore they did give us. I just wish they gave us some more and didn't leave so many loose ends.
