Why do people pretend these games have lore?

I looked into the lore and it is literally a meaningless word salad.

I really dont understand why people praise and hype this stuff up man.

So its a console game with supposedly hard fights that 95% of the community just overgo by cheating.

And even the story is empty slop.

Remember the king of the hill episode where Peggy try to get Bobby to use a cow bell for his comedy so the views know when to laugh. The menu exposition TELL player like the cow bell when to think and believe something interesting exist. It easier to be told something is interesting and deep and meaningful rather then have to stop and think about some basics we learned in the first grade like "who,what,where, when, why and how"

I dunno- if the game sucks why are you here talking about it? You sound butt-hurt because you don't understand the appeal. Just don't play a "dumb game" and move on with your day eh? Cyberpunk 2077 has some deep lore if you get into the TTRPG from the 80's and the story is even liniar as hell, so you can't really miss the major plot points.

When you say you "looked into to lore" what does that even mean? Did you play the game and read the discriptions of all of the items you found? because that is the way most of the lore is conveyed. They paid George R. R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire series / Game of Thrones the book) to write the back story- which isn't even featured in the game but used as the underlying history of the world the game takes place in.

Which is to say the lore is quite deep and well considered- though difficult to parse and sparse in it's delivery. People love it because they have to seek it out and put the pieces together like a puzzle. If you just read a short web article with lots of ads, you probably didn't even get a good vague idea of what is going on here.

There are multiple creators on YouTube who have made pretty reasonable careers out of teasing out interesting bits of lore from these games. If you are geniuinely interested in seeing what people dig about the lore of this specific game, I would encourage you to watch some VattiVidya- he has several very well produced videos on the lore of this game.
