Do you mean damage per second, or just a fast hitting weapon that hits hard? Star Fist hits hard for its speed, especially if you give it the blood affinity, just mind its poor range.

Highest DPS is pretty hotly debated given the amount of build and enemy variation.

Generally speaking though, things like crag Star Fist/Balls (like deteringwilliam mentioned) and niche stuff like high virtual dex Carian Slicer builds have the highest average DPS.

Highest one hit damage is roughly tied between a base game incant and a DLC spell :praisesun: but you can get awfully close to their numbers with melee using certain colossal weapons and stacking buffs like RKR.

edit: btw this question had a very different answer just a few days ago lol. rip lightning perfume bottle.

If it's against anything that isn't immune to bleed, point blank impenetrable thorns. It just deals stupid damage and can just delete bosses in a few casts. Just make sure to use endure before casting to make sure you don't get interrupted.

I know, it's not a weapon, but it's the single most damaging thing in the game currently.

If you're just starting out, you can get the Bloodhound's Fang pretty early. That can carry you through the early and mid game. Beat Rykard with the serpent hunter and you can get the Blasphemous Blade. That will carry you easily through the end of the game including Mogh and Melenia.
no like im far rn done with all boses and most nekron too just finished ranni quest in river of rot so smth late game

I'm doing a base game run with it right now from a fresh ng+0. I rushed Radahn and Mohg right after grabbing torrent, went straight to get thorns using the back route to avoid bosses and then returned to do Limgrave.

Poor Margit :mhwhelp:.

On a lot of bosses the ADLS incant does do more single cast damage than thorns though even with the armor and offhand staff buffs.

They're both absolute nukes. The difference of course is that IT costs like 20 less fp and has a much higher rate of attack so, unless you're trying to one-shot every boss in the game +DLC, thorns is definitely the better of the two.

Giant-Crusher or, if you're using guard counters, Rusted Anchor.

its gonna be hard to beat fists and claws, they swing with some of the fastest weps, you can dual wield them, most of them also have bleed, and they have some of the best endurance per swing ratios.

But if you are talking about BURST damage, the most dmg in the shortest ammount of time, its probably gonna be some two handed wep.

I am liking the double heavy Great Stars with claw talisman and golden vow spell. I like them because they have bleed so you can get 20% damage boost with lord of blood talisman if you want.

If you are down for poison darts / pots you can also use Kindred of Rot's Exultation for another 20% total 40% but I cant be fussed with trying to trigger poison too.

For burst damage on a pure Str build, it's hard to beat a buffed-up Heavy Freja's Greatsword with Savage Lion's Claw.

You cant dps bosses in the dlc efficiently anymore unlike the core game.

Core game: mymic spam homing moons into millenia

Dlc game: you didn't learn boss you die.

Can't say I'm mad about that tho.
