Rapiers still sh*t, I see
Trying to play with Great Epe on new character and my god... I get destroyed by little imps from the dungeons because the damn thing just can't hit them while locked on with any of the attacks but jumping one. Same with rats. Horseback hitboxes pretty cringe too.
As long as its human sized or bigger - I'm fine, but lord forbid the enemy is 3 inches shorter than you and suddenly you are outclassed, outmatched and outplayed.

It's been 4 games and rapiers are still as cursed as they always were.
Plan-B Escape Plan Broadsword will never leave my side it seems... It is what it is.

Thats why you gotta master free aiming in these games.

Yeah, I do that too, but the imps are too agile for my taste and will often a get hit in first. Still - no excuse.

It misses too! Well.... Half the time anyway. But it still does!

That's just a problem with how rigid the attacks are, the issue exists in their previous games as well where an enemy can be right in front of you and you cannot hit them because they are below or above your attack. You see this issue in other soulslikes as well, especially in LOTF with those damn umbral imps.

This is why i seldom use jump attacks in Elden Ring, because the aiming for them can be wonky asf, can't even count the amount of times i somehow missed an enemy right in front of me because the blade missed them by a hair. This is especially an issue with those imps you mentioned.

If thrust weapons had the same coverage as other weapons there'd be no reason to ever use anything other than thrust weapons

I'm not asking for it to have a swipe attack or 20 meters of range - I'm simply asking that the character aims about 30 degrees down when locked on on enemy of below-human stature. Surely it's not that hard to program after 10 years of practice of doing this.

Even better - spears (greatspears, at least) don't seem to have this problem and hit the little bastards right in the face. So why can't rapier do that?

It's not hard to program, considering you can already do it outside of lock on.

Speaking of swipe attacks, I'm pretty sure Great Epee got one in its R2. You could try that against small enemies like imps or rats.

I did - it's still iffy. Not only it still misses by swinging above their heads - it's painfully slow and often gets me punished, becoming straight unusable if theres more than 1 imp.
It truly is better to just switch to literally any other weapon.

Maybe there's a weapon art that could fix this...

Against smaller enemies, don't lock on and aim down. This should allow you to hit them, assuming you still want to use heavy rapiers.

Buh?

I'm very confused when core game came out everyone called it best game ever.

Now that people have actually stopped pretending to play the game but are actually attempting to make it to the dlc it's worst game ever?

Yeah something doesn't smell right

No no, the game's fine. My main character beat the final boss not so long ago - it was fun.

I'm just whining that rapiers are still cringe to use as they always were, probably since Demon Souls. They just can't polish them to have good hitboxes to save their lives and it's kinda hilarious.

I have the opposite complaint that broadswords are lacking but poking weapons are cracking.

Aside from UGS, double or shielded pokeys are my biggest threat.

In PvP maybe, but in PvE the rapier_experience.tm was always cursed. My DS3 rapier playthrough was raw pain.
