Elden Ring Keeps Crashing (AMD Graphics Card)
I will start by saying I am not the most tech-savvy person. I have gone through the basic stuff though. I have reinstalled the game, updated my graphics card drivers, and verified the integrity of the game files. Unfortunately, the game continues to crash. I have tried twiddling about with all the "game enhancing" features AMD offers through its control panel. I have tried playing with them on, playing with them all off, or a mix that I thought would help stabilize the game. In addition to that I have also turned the graphics down to potato mode and it still really does not help. The crashing seems incredibly inconsistent and sometimes happens immediately after loading or 20-30 minutes into gaming. Every time it crashes AMD's control panel will pop up with the "report a crash: graphics driver timed out" or something to that effect. I do not think it is the graphics card though because it works fine with literally every other game. It's also only a year or two old. My PC specs are as follows:

Processor: Intel I5-11400

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT

RAM: 32 GB DDR4

I am not entirely sure the exact model of my motherboard but is is an ASUS, I am pretty sure that does not matter here though. Anyway, to investigate further I went to the windows event viewer to see if I could find what was causing the crash but I do not understand a thing it is saying. I will post the event report below.

Faulting application name: eldenring.exe, version: 2.2.3.0, time stamp: 0x667d44fb

Do you've any overclocking done on your system? For me this error popped up in Spider-Man Remastered due to too aggressive RAM overclock.
Try to see if lowering clocks on GPU will help you can for example lower by 200mhz in MSI afterburner on core/memory and see if it runs.
I've also heard of someone having this error while running some asus tweak software, so might want to turn it off if you're running it.

No, I have not done any over clocking to my pc, do you think this could still be an issue? Also, in reference to the ASUS software where would I find these settings? Thanks for the help.

It's worth a shot to play with lower clock speeds. Hardware is degrading with age after all, also do check thermals on cpu/gpu, you might simply be having errors due to too much heat.

Another thing to try is different drivers, maybe some older ones if your running newest ones already.

I would also try to lower ram speeds by 200Mhz in xmp just for rulling out ram issues.
Also make sure to reinstall game if you haven't already.

So, I believe I followed your advice properly, or accidentally stumbled across a solution. AMD offers the ability to "undervolt" your GPU for specific games and so far I have been able to play without issue. Although I have only been playing for about 20 minutes the game seems to be running a lot smoother and I have yet to crash in the middle of a boss fight or at all. I am going to continue to play for a while to make sure things are solved, but I do believe we have fixed it. Thank you so much, I am glad I can continue to bash my head up against almost unbeatable bosses (this is my first souls like game so I am quite bad).

Ah, nevermind, it crashed after about 30 minutes and crashes every time I load in now.

Okay so I decided to try and lower my ram speed like you suggested (after I figured out how to do it), and it seems to have worked. I was able to play and defeat Night's Calvary like I had been working on. I am glad to be able to play, but I have one final question. Since I had to lower the speed does that mean there is something wrong with my hardware? Does anything need to be replaced or upgraded?

it happens to me to, i'm also using an AMD card

The game does not even boot after the update.

It does seem that turning down my RAMs speed by 200 MHz's fixed the problem. At least I was able to play for an hour before I had to go and work. I will update this if I play for a long period of time and everything works well.

As i said the hardware or specifically silicone inside degrades over time, it's true for all computer parts cpu/gpu/ram etc. Lowering clock speeds lowers the load and makes it possible to use it in such a case, it can also be a heat issue - RAM does heat up especially with summer and high temperatures if it exceeds 55 degress it can start throwing out errors for DDR4.

Since you haven't been using OC and using stock XMP speeds you can RMA the RAM if you want, but i'm not sure it's worth the hassle. RAM has life-time varranty in case it's something you want to pursue. By lowering clocks by 200mhz you lose a bit of performance though not a lot 1-2fps at most, hard to say how much exactly since i don't know what mhz you running at.
