I only needed a guide to reach like 5% of the places in the base game and on this game you need a guide almost for any place.
Without youtube / reddit many areas would be permanently unaccessible. Because MULTIPLE of them are hidden SO WELL behind some hidden wall / strange cave / tiny ladder somewhere that you would only find them if you maticulously searched every inch of the map.
And you would always search at the wrong place because on the map it looks like "maybe I could go that route" - only to discover that ACTUALLY there is 100000000000 meter high cliff there that isnt represented in the map at all.
I recently created a post talking about the same thing.

You must enjoy empty corners with just rocks and grass. You have a pretty strange concept of fun.
Believe me I know. Especially the missable quests with no markers. Another obtuse mechanic that Fromsoftware refuses to let go.
Yeah its absurd how badly designed the map is.
