For those who have done it, how was the DLC with a Sorcerer?
I also have the Xbox X version and my char there is a Int Sorcerer. I did beat the DLC on the PC but had some trouble with Gaius and Radahn mostly. My char is STR/DEX on PC.

Have cleared everything until Messmer and didn't do Bayle yet.

Clearing was pee easy with Gambit, Loretta's, Cannon and Piercer. Bosses barely give time to cast more than once, not to mention it's almost impossible to fully use Carian Grandest. Additionally, bosses have much more attacks that specifically target you and not the person that currently holds aggro.

Exploration was great, bosses were trash.

It can be a bit of a challenge or really laughably easy to the point where you sort of feel like you robbed yourself of some fun. Depends on when you find Impenetrable Thrones.,

dont' expect to be able to cast anything that doesn't come out fast enough. Not too much difference between ranged and melee given how fast the DLC bosses can gapclose before you even finish casting

I'll say that I don't agree with the people above me who say you don't have time to cast anything. Beat the DLC without really ever swinging a sword (except for the final boss).

yeah, can't even complain about boss aggression with caster builds- just cast faster ♥♥♥♥, carian slicer is OH PEE!

That's what I said exactly, if its fast enough to cast you can surely use it. But don't expect to get a free hit of Ranni's darkmoon at the start of the boss fight without getting jumped instantly, things are just not the same compared to base game bosses(Which is a good thing because god forbid those dumb af comet azure setups). At least sorceries are generally faster to cast compared to incants which are a huge pain in the ass if you want to use something that hits hard.

Carian Slicer is carrying me so hard through these boss fights

Spells will be worthless in boss fights because the bosses are so aggressive, so the experience is not that different from other builds, it's just your weapon is scaling with INT instead of STR/DEX/etc.

Cold infused Backhand Blades are the best for boss fights on an INT build IMO.

I genuinely think that everyone saying bosses are too aggressive for spells to be useful are making assumptions and haven't even tried it. It's just not true. Beat Messmer just charging Comet and walking in a circle around him..,

It does seem like overpowered weapons and builds that rely on them and summons are more punished. The last boss and messmer make summoning difficult and punishable. Weapons like dark moon and blasphemous blade aren't as effective as they were in the base. Which I am not complaining about nor am I saying they still aren't overpowered. It's just that they are not as guaranteed l2 press to win as they once were.

One thing I tried and didn't seem to get the effect was the impenetrable thorns. It's awfully slow and when it does it, it isn't doing anywhere near the damage I see on YouTube. Is it my arcane being too low? My stats are
60 vigor
40 mind
40 end
28 strength
59 dex
40 int
25 faith
55 arcane

Comet Azur wasn't even good. It was just braindead. And instead of fixing Comet Azur (or Crystal Barrage, which is arguable more OP due to efficency), they bandaided it and effed literally all builds in the process instead of channeled line-aoes.

I've also been testing backhand blades on an INT build recently, but I'm not sure if its better to use spells to proc frost and have the backhand blades magic infused instead as there seems to be a big difference in AR between mag/cold infusion ? Wonder if you tried both setups.

Arcane only helps proc Bleed faster, it doesn't make the spell do more damage. What staff are you using?

Impenetrable Thorns has overlapping aoe distributed over the entire length. You cast it against a wall or directly in front of you.

I entered the game with a high-int caster sorcerer and I am at the last boss now. I ditched casting almost entirely for bossfights, and have been fighting them melee-style with Adula's moonblade instead. I found it much easier to learn the dodge timings than finding openings for casting. All bosses have special attacks to interrupt spell casting and it was annoying.
