What's the deal with the mesmer soldier shield?

Genuinely asking, description says that it's the largest shield of its class.

Does this thing have light shield party frames or something?

Because currently it is inferior to the two new kite shields introduced, and the golden dorito from the base game.

Anyone check this yet?

As far as I can tell to answer my own question this is the case.

Testing kite shield parries vs mesmer shield parries I was landing more and recovering faster.

I might be wrong it appears like storm wall will grant any medium shield small shield parry frames anyway so it probably doesn't matter.

Yeah, parry AOW change the Parry Frames of Medium Shields to be the same as small ones, i think they make it better actually.

It only requires 10 strength. The other two require 12, and the brass shield is way higher at 16. It certainly has it's place. Also, it looks cool.
