I just beat Radahn 2.0 with my tank build.
Because I'm lazy and can no longer be bothered to spend two whole days learning every nuance of a boss (I did that for Owl Father, I'm not doing it again), I choose either a sorceress or a spear-and-greatshield tank build.

Normally this latter build will breeze through the game. The only DLC bosses to take more than two attempts were those with unblockable aoe attacks, Messmer and the second Chinese Dragon (the one with the Death Blight).

Anyway, I tried all sorts to defeat Radahn. The tanking was working very well, but some attacks were slipping past the shield and I'd get worn down by chip damage with no good opportunity to heal after my mimic was expired.

Normally, I'll use the Bolt of Gransax and Haligtree Greatshield. Most enemies have nothing they can do against this. But Radahn is just so fast and does so much aoe which my mimic wasn't blocking, that he was consistently killing me.

There had to be another way, I thought. I don't suck this badly so I must be doing something fundamentally wrong. Well there's no way I'm going to learn to dodge, so I'll rethink the tanking strategy.

I swapped out all my gear to maximise Holy Defense, swapping into the Black Steel Greatshield and Crucible Tree / Tree Sentinel armours.

I tried the Poleblade of the Bud. Swapping into that to summon the mimic (when timing allowed), then back to my precious Bolt, allowed the mimic to proc rot on Radahn while I kept his agro. Phase 1 was over in record time.

But phase 2 was the same deal. Mimic gets worn down and expires, then I have no space to heal.

So I tried the Blood infused Heretic's Fork, with Blood Tax. If there's a better bleed weapon, I don't know about it.

One go and it absolutely shredded Radahn. Mimic was still above 50% HP at the end.

So as usual my tank build saved the day, making a really hard boss actually pretty easy. I just had to pick the right tools.

greatshield are just super good, always have been
personally pulled up one for the last boss, didnt really minmax the holy reduction but i was tempted, didnt use a spear cause i dont really like them

that being said, i am quite sure endure + golden braid and a nice poise nuke of a weapon would have worked better, it's probably how i'll try next time
the shield makes the fight last longer and honestly i think i'd rather try to outpoise and dps race this guy, it was quite the slog

Chance to heal is after he finishes one of his combos, or after dodging the grab. Basically, you chose between hitting him once or twice, or healing. Gotta be fast. The attacks in P2 are mostly the same as P1 with extra BS, aside from the dashing.

Owl father is a great example. He's the worst boss of sekiro. He'll do a long combo on you that you deflect perfectly to massively build his posture meter, then he'll enter counter mode, heal all his posture while doing massive damage if you hit him. He has maybe 2 punish windows in his entire moveset, and if you try to counter outside that, he punishes you for 3/4 of your health. So you need to chip him down over 20 minutes till his health is low enough not to regain all his posture while he slowly circles around you, while doing perfect deflects to retain meter, and if you mess up even once, he does a 1 hit kill on you.

People who complain about isshin only went for that one ending. True fans know owl father is by far the worst. Hardest to win and most boring. If isshin is a 9/10 difficulty, owl father is 18/10, unfair and crap. Exactly like the radahn fight. 0/10.

Finally a reasonable thread about the mimic tear and how useless it can be when it decides to waddle around the place taking damage and doing nothing......

I basically stack holy resistance and rot him while dodging everything and of course healing the few times i got hit. Using the scarlet Aeonia for this also heavy damage bursts like Bayle tyranny and blood flies/Reduvia to keep the blood procs going.

If you want your mimic to survive equip a raw mead dumpling and a Marika blessing (just one will do) then the mimic will use one of both and heal to full HP. Also of course a seal to cast Erdtree healing. Also rot pots.

Blacksteel Greatshield, Sword Lance with either Bleed or Cold (or both, duplicate Remberance), Pearl Shield Talisman, Greatshield Talisman, Two Headed Turtle Talisman and Golden Braid. Proc Cold/Bleed or alternate Cold/Bleed for even faster effect. Don't worry about doing dmg, Cold/Bleed does a lot of dmg by themselves.

When I soloed it I did dual wield Katana. Mimic + me = bleed proc on Radahn and basically a race for dmg. Killed him just after Mimic died.
