EDIT: So we’re not having the exact same problem. But it sounds related. This maybe sounds like an issue within the mod itself, improperly storing the save files…? But I’m not very tech savvy, idk.
As a last-ditch effort I tried going deep into my game files and transferring my vanilla saves to coop, and it didn’t work. At my wit’s end here, might just wait to play the DLC until a more stable version of the mod comes out.
same as you do with regular
the mod saves have a .co2 ending instead of the usual .sl2 and are in the same folder
you back them up by creating a new folder in the same directory and name it whatever you want: " backup saves" for example.
then you copy the co2. files into it
The issue for me was that when I updated the mod and replaced the old ersc_launcher.exe with the newer one as a non-steam game, it created a new app ID with its own folder for storing the saves. Also, the app ID for the ersc_launcher.exe is separate from the app ID for vanilla Elden Ring.
I found my original .co2 save file which was stored in the older app ID's folder path. I copied it over the newer .co2 save file found in the newer app ID's folder path and it restored everything back.
For example, the path when exploring Steam Deck's Desktop folders (make sure to enable Hidden files/folders):
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/(app ID number)/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/EldenRing/(Steam profile number)
I found the correct app ID for the updated mod and the last version of the mod I was using just by sorting by last date modified. The app IDs both happened to be 10 digit numbers that started with 3, but I don't know if that will apply universally to others.
Hope this helps. And yeah, back up those saves when you can!
MY MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND!
thx to you i didnt lose my stuff on seamless coop via steam deck, did exaaactly the way you said it, but aus you mentioned the id is unique, not even close to your mentioned number. I did enable to see the time and date when a folder was created and knew kind of when i first installed seamless coop, to find my old save file. Then, as u said, just where i found it i copied it and replaced it in the new folder which was made a few minutes ago. U saved me and my bestfriend, damn
