Hahahaha!!!
People think the hitboxes are bad, but they aren't. The hitboxes were very accurate, people just don't understand how it works.
In DS2 your i-frames are governed primarily by adaptability, and if you have low adaptability you would often get hit by attacks that in other games wouldn't have done any damage - because i-frames were more forgiving.
DS2 is notorious for bad hitboxes, but wasn't worse than any other Souls game - and in many instances had much tighter hitboxes.
I recommend the following:

This channel has a few videos with visualised hitboxes also:

Just stop. This horse has been beaten to death repeatedly. DS2 has bad hitboxes and ADP was one of the worst ideas ever introduced to a Souls game. Just accept it and move on, noone except Hbomberguy is going to have your back on this one.
I know, they're like the flat earthers of the Souls fandom.
I saw some obnoxious goof who was like
"Oh man those stupid people who tried to run to the Smelter Demon, if only they arbitrarily killed enemies until they stopped respawning which is completely unlike the previous game with which you're basing your skills on. Arbitrary choices in design are so sick as long as I understand them."
Dark Souls 2 is the game that needs other, better games to exist to make people think it isn't some massive failed experiment. "Oh man, Tanimura!" Like, we currently have no idea who the actual original director was of that game, that's how much pining for validation that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game brings out. They're waiting to tell you about some lost idea or thing that DS2 brought forth, but it's all selective and no one actually cares about something like "Man, what actually went wrong, who was that person who dipped and why?"
Appreciation at someone or something else's expense.
