ELDEN RING
Elden Ring reboots my PC when I launch it
No idea why it does this. I have ran a few PC spec applications to test if my specs are in good shape. All tell me I can play the top 97 hardware demanding games.

Anyway, it sure why it does this. Any ideas?
I've uninstalled, reinstalled, validated files...

Man I just want to suffer in the DLC :(

Do you use a Intel 13. Or 14. Gen CPU?
The event id 41 is caused by the cpu, which had shutdown the System during a CPU driver restart.

i have an intel i7-11700F

also have
Ryzen RX 7900XT (kinda mismatched, i know, it's future proofing since i had some leftover money a little while back)
coolermaster 1000W psu
in case it helps

also running occt cpu, psu and gpu tests right now if that is relevant to you

interesting, a CPU driver caused reboot is a rare thing, there are only limited possible causes.

- bios not uptodate, chipset/cpu drivers mismatch with bios version
- faulty powersupply
- windows internal faults
- in very rare cases a broken EAC installation can cause a CPU command fail that cause a cpu driver restart

so the next would be a clean reinstall of eac (because it is the more easy thing to start with)

delete the 'EasyAntiCheat_EOS' folder in C:\Program Files (x86)

then Use Registry Editor to delete all keys and values that had 'EasyAntiCheat_EOS' to do this search up "REGEDIT" in search.
right-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Find and look up the term EasyAntiCheat_EOS and delete any entry with this name you can find by search again.

then go into elden ring's game files in the installation folder and navigate to easy anti cheat, and click on the install_easyanticheat_eos_setup

a prompt will pop up and hit enter.

than bios update (also a INTEL ME update), reinstall of motherboard drivers

than a full windows system check

with the 7000 series AMD GPU's there could also appear problems with avx 2 commands and the newest drivers so a DDU deinstall and test with 23.8.1 or 23.8.2 should be checked.

i've done the motherboard driver reinstalls, intel me update and win sys check already.
i'll do the eac reinstall now and will report back if that works.

thanks for the help dark-breed!

did you look into the event viewer? it could help narrow down the problem if we get the same error

he already talked with me to narrow down the possible causes it is a complete different problem.

.
sadly it was not eac apparently. the clean reinstall did not change anything.
so for anyone else with this problem in the future:
i had an kernel-power error 41 task category 63
turned out to be a fried cpu core
dingo had an event id 1000 error which turned out to be most likely a faulty gpu or psu

dark-breed said it was probably something about the easy anti cheat that brought both of these errors to light for the two of us.
the dlc/update may have just been bad timing

just replaced the cpu and the same problem is still happening

You notice how in zero of dark-breed's posts did he ever once even remotely consider Elden Ring itself is at fault? These errors were happening to nobody that I can see since launch, up until the recent updates broke everything. Maybe instead of jumping through 50 hoops, we can start with accepting that From themselves are at fault by releasing broken updates with no regard to user experience.

Personally, I was running the game on max settings with zero frame drops at all. Worked perfectly. Now I can't even see the start screen without the game rebooting my whole rig. That never happened before. I highly doubt that when the only thing that changed is the game update, that it's any indication my CPU cores suddenly broke out of nowhere. Especially when all my cores are working just fine and even higher-demanding games are running with no problem. It's only Elden Ring.

because this game runs at millions of computers without any crashes.

first of all, i find it very reasonable for dark-breed to assume it's something about the pc, seeing as the errors we both had were at kernel level, which is not usually something that a game accesses.

in the end it turned out that easy-anti-cheat probably installed wrong with the last update and was beefing with the driver for my amd graphics card.

so after a lot of money spent, a lot of time wasted, an entirely new pc, i had to download an old amd driver and then jump through about 1million hoops to reinstall eac and now everything works perfectly again.

i don't personally think that this was the fault of from software. i think that easy anti cheat is just the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, most intrusive and most unstable anti-cheat software in existence, but sadly i think it may just be the cheapest one, which is probably why from uses it.

so anyway,
TLDR
if your game ist still constantly rebooting your system, try downgrading your graphics driver and if that doesn't immediately fix it, google a guide on how to reinstall easy anti cheat.
safe yourself the money, time and energy.
