You need to stack resistances to be effective at mitigating anything more than an extra hit.
The blessings give you another 50% dmg cut, so that's a huge source. Turns a 40% mitigation into a 70% mitigation. Talismans and consumbles add even more.
For the final boss, I was rocking 92% light resistance. Meaning I only took 8% dmg from his strongest attacks. It was easy to survive multiple hits.
Dextard dodge builds get nothing out of it but a build focused on trading hits as long and as aggressively as possible live and die dependent on strong armor as key foundations that make their builds function.
DLC has the Blackgaol Knight's armor just right there basically though and it's both pretty sick as well as very good being a borderline straight upgrade on BK armor.
my build has 70% physical damage negation and about 60% in elemental negations and i find myself dead in maybe 3 hits at most if i don't dodge or block.
that is not acceptable for a heavy armor build that specifically aims to tank damage, that's light build ♥♥♥♥ right there....
There a number of resistance mechanics to be mindful of.
Base game, soft cap of 30 resistance to aim for.
Dlc soft cap of 60 resistance to aim for.
You can push beyond that by 10 resistance or so in either case.
You shouldn't be getting one shot at 60 vigor.
I'm currently running around in the Tree Sentinel set, with the Circlet of Light.
that totally happens though.
both radahn and bayle has certain mega BS abilities that outright one-shot you if you are unfortunate enough to be within range.
Armor is protective items worn by the player's character which grant protections, resistances, and various bonus effects against damage and status effects, as well as influencing statistics such as carry load and poise.
