They ARE affected by attack type buffs.
- Claw Talisman and Raptor's Black Feathers/Gravebird's Blackquill Armour increases the damage of all jumping thrown attacks.
- Axe Talisman increases the damage of charged heavy thrown attacks.
- Two-Handed Sword Talisman increases the damage of all thrown attacks when two-handing.
- Lacerating Crossed-Tree and Leda's Armour increase the damage of all dashing thrown attacks (sprinting attacks).
And yes, Arrow's Soaring Sting seems to be a middle ground between Arrow's Reach and Arrow's Sting. Not as good as the specialised ones but you get a bit of both.
Tested this with Ambush Shard on my mage build.
Doesn't matter if arrow talismans effect them.
They are still exceptionally easy to buff 4 talismans deep.
Throws count as charge attacks for axe talisman, projectiles can proc thorny tear, can be infused with elements.
Throws can be done mid air for claw talisman etc.
Piercing throwing weapons count as counterattack for spear talisman.
Light weapons buffed by blue dancer etc.
Smith weapons have some of the highest dmg in the game pound for pound.
Thanks for your testing.
