They use to proc status fast AF but it got patched...
Alongside Erdsteel Dagger and the new Fire Knight Shortsword (idk why its called that when its a freaking dagger) they have a double slash as their heavy, which is REALLY good, specially if youre using Millicent Prosthesis and/or Rotten Winged Insignia.
And yes this is talking while using only one dagger.
It's more like "I can't believe this daggers doing so much damage" when they are just matching weapons with further reach and having to add talismans
This fundamentally changes things. Because take a quality weapon with good scaling, and a weapon buff will outperform infusions with the right stat allocation. Smithscript already makes us put points into int and faith, so it already has the baseline for us to start using weapon buffs.
Infusing them is fine, I guess, but they would perform a lot better if I could put things like black/blood flame or one of the elemental types based on a particular boss’ weakness. I guess fromsoft was afraid of that being too strong? Not sure. I just tend to like weapon buff builds so I was a little sad I couldn’t use them for it.
Daggers have dodged the stagger nerfs?
Need to take them for a spin, low damage be damned if they can at least stagger some opponents.
Honestly like half of the one handed weapon roster feels unplayable now that they don't stagger even if you get some good hits in, I don't even need to git gud on a Halberd that permastuns most of the elite enemy roster so moving to a weapon class that just does not is a night and day difference in how sweaty you have to play
But yea...the first attack of dual wield daggers will stun most enemies allowing you to keep the combo going..but its tedious
I tried a bunch of dagger builds...theyve gotten better since DS 1 but are still low tier as far as power...
Fun AF for the first half of the game at least...after the capital..not so much
Malenia was miserable though... i still need practice on that one for a dagger.
A tip, talismans that affect arrow/bolt damage affects all thrown weapons, pots, items as well.
You want Smiths, claw, spear, blue dancer.
The golden vow and thorny tear part is correct tho.
Should deal 1.5 k on jumping r2 at range.
Given the speed of your character it's genuinely decent.
So the reason this works is the following equation.
Dancer is global dmg buff, spear because all your Daggers are pierce and people will be attacking while you range them out, Smith cuz duh, and claw because jumping r2 throw is your dagger win move.
Second tear is for your resistance to negate the loss from running blue dancer. No hp drain required.
Don't forget to gogue Dex and take advantage of that S scaling your dmg will be poop even with stacking talismans if you don't with proper stats it's the top dagger in the game by a landslide.
