Gravitational Missile Bug/Exploit?

So, i ran into an invader that used this spell, to my knowledge this is Gaius spell which is a black hole that pulls enemies into it and then explodes after a while.

Thing is, when this guy casted the spell, it exploded instantly.

I havent used this spell at all, so idk, i want a Mage's opinion.

Instead of target locking and casting, cast it on the ground for the big boom.

Um... yeah idk if thats intentional, considering how hard this thing hits.
