NGL, the ending of the DLC is super underwhelming (obviously spoiler ahead)
So, the final boss fight is a total ass-pull in terms of story, we get absolutly 0 info regarding Marika (the trailer tells a better story than the game yet again...), Miquella gets honnestly no further development in any way, if you've watched the trailer you already know everything the DLC is going to tell you, the weapon and armor descriptions are absolutly pointless they all tell things we either already know are don't add anything. The ending memory cutscene is utterly pointless, you expect a revelation ? Nope, just Miquella saying what you can already read in his soul's description or was told by NPCs.

The DLC is honnestly compleatly pointless in terms of story, or did I miss something so big I couldn't tell it was right in front of me ?

Yes, you probably missed a lot.
Actually the DLC does give lore on this stuff, it’s just not in the mandatory cutscenes, which is the norm for these games.

The ending is pretty underwhelming though, especially compared to Ringed City and Old Hunters.

Thing is, I got every item you can get in a single playthrough and I got every dialogue, still learned nothing I didn't get from the trailer appart from few details of no importance.

Some crackpots will look at rock formations and make up some grand epic story in their minds that isn't actually present in the game at all, but yeah that really is about it. Miquella resurrected Radahn, somehow. By using the dead body of Mohg, somehow. And maybe there's some gay incest going on. That's the story.

I also find the ending a bit disappointing. It probably would have been better if the DLC continued the story instead of being some kind of side quest.

If there was another DLC it would be ok, but as it is it feels weird going back into the main game. It has no impact on the main game at all which is kind of disappointing.

But the lore itself in the DLC was interesting. We learned a lot about Marika and her origins. Furthermore, we now know that the greater will has long left the Lands between and all the commands of the two fingers after this event may all be lies.

If you want better story, go read twilight. Yes, the sparkling vampire one. Elden ring's story is about a murder Hobo who murders everything he comes across other than a blue 4 armed doll, because she makes his funny bits feel strange.

All in the backdrop of a grrm incest story, so incestuous, one of them had 4 babies with themselves.

This all is a paper thin excuse for 100 boss fights, 80 of them reskinned versions of other bosses, including the final one of the dlc.

It's garbage. Hope someone makes a mod placing all the DLC items in the base game so I never have to run through it again.

I am totally disappointed by how the ending unfolded. It kind of made a dent in the whole Elden Ring lore for me. It felt really jarring. Like you said, no further development on MIquella or his real ambitions, nor some sort of real closure to really important questions in the DLC and main game.

Also, this Radahn is visually the least Fromsoft like boss I can imagine (he sorta reminds me of the Doom Marine), which felt sooo wrong. Btw. in what 1000 year voyage of compassion do I get curbstomped by a roided out Frankenstein's monster?

Sorry, had to vent there for a sec, forgive me. :)

However, are you sure you found every item in the game?
For example, a lot of info on Marika's background can be found, e.g., in the "Shaman Village" location.
Also, the main DLC story is pretty much unusually explicitly laid out to you by the dialogues with Ansbach.

People will make 3 hour lore videos on this, thinking they are the next vaatividya, except this crappy lore isn't anywhere near as good as dark souls's.

I enjoyed the journey, but yeah I wasn't a fan of the ending. I try to focus on the journey rather than the ending. It feels better that way.

But yeah. Between Miquella and Radahn dying without any fanfare, the final cutscene being nothing but a memory, and every single NPC in the DLC ending up dead (Tholier and Asbach died anyway despite me not summoning them for the Radahn fight), and the original NPCs at the roundtable not acknowledging the DLC in any way, I was basically left with nobody to talk to about it but myself (and other players of course) lol

Miquella wanted to make a peaceful world, but was going to do it by mind controlling everyone, removing free will. This is basically exemplified through the NPCs that were all buddy buddy until Miquella shattered his great rune.

Vaati has good production values, he's not exactly coming up with any new ideas himself. He's the dummy that started the "Erdtree is a parasite!" take that everyone ran with.

He's like a Fromsoftware Wikipedia taking people's takes from Reddit and elsewhere and giving no credit. We need less youtubers like him.

Also Elden Ring's base game lore is great, but the world of Dark Souls is pretty iconic and the best representation of grimdark in video game history. Elden Ring borders more on folklore a lot of the time.

why did everyone expect some kind of huge plot twist at the end? it's the end of the dlc, what else did you expect

Gay incest make me think sweet baby inc was involved with this game. Or From has some liberal devs on board.
