no chance against Bayle
all the other bosses were hard but fair ,Bayle is simply too OP ,l don't use heavies nd my rapiers can't reach his head most of the times , he's can not be rotted the only thing so far that can help get reach phase 2 is poison but phase 2 is simply too unfair ,no punish windows to speak of that combined with the high HP of the boss itself and his ridiculous dmg output is not no possible at least for a nimble rapier wielding build

He can be rotted, but getting applied can be tricky. I found him much easier once I mostly stayed unlocked from him. The camera likes to freak out in this fight.

Stab his nub, don’t rely on auto lock. Should be fine with some practice. First dlc run through I saved him for last, I found him to be harder than Miquella. Just repetition.

- Summon Igon
- Apply Dragonwound grease / dragon communion grease
- Don't focus an hit his leg/stump
- Be patient
- Learn the timings, you get plenty of openings and all his attacks are well telegraphed

CUUUUURRRSEE YOU BAYLE! BEHOLD, A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR, AND I, MEEP, COME TO LEARN YOUR FIGHT, AND RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE! WITH A HAIL OF WELL-PLACED ROLLS AND A NEW STRATEGY! WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF OP'S BEING!

FR though, dodge backwards more when he does stuff like his grab, double wing swipe, and bite combos. The hitboxes for those attacks are short and don't linger, and by rolling backwards you usually position yourself near the head, which is perfect for punishing him. Obviously roll to the sides for lingering hitboxes like his flame breath and what not though.

If you still need help hitting his head, try getting an AOW with good mobility. I used the ancient meteoric greatsword AOW for my 2nd fight against him, and I was able to just constantly charge towards his head no matter where I was positioned as long as I was locked onto his head. Made punishing him a lot simpler. I'm sure there's something like that available for rapiers.

You must be a TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR to survive (there's a thorn spell that really tears up Bayle, but also you can hit his bad leg). Uh, I'm not gonna lie I saw that Igon was an archer and used Latenna to fight alongside him and it was the most fun I've had in the DLC.

Yeah, putting the lock on point on his head, a place you'll rarely ever be able to hit is pretty short sighted on their part. Only way I managed to beat him was forgoing lock on entirely and focusing on his legs with heavy attacks.

What puzzled me in this Bayle fight is how they really tried hard to make a Midir II. Imported every Midir move and did their best to make player focus the head. But while the DS3 Midir fight everything works like a charm and the battle is beautiful and it really looks like warrior vs dragon, this Bayle one is player vs clipped polygons LOL. Nothing really works without huge sums of ugliness in these ER bosses.

Give up on locking on for the most part, go for his leg nub, summon Igon (for the hype), try to survive

I also believe Bayle is weak to frost, so if you have a way to cause frostbite, use it

You play that fight like you would against Amygdala. Aim for the head with charged r2s
Protip: NEVER use lock-on when fighting large enemies.

That's the trick, the lock on is a meta-style difficulty trick. Which I really hate Elden Ring for since the part you want to be staring at just isn't going to be available and the game will just annoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of you by making the part you are targeting something that does take critical damage. Hitting Bayle's stump leg is the actual part you want to target... but then I see that the new Thorns spell just tears Bayle to shreds easily and it makes me go "Why do you guys do this? Who is this for?" Just another case of taking the piss to me.

I mean, I killed Sennesax solo just throwing knives at his head, it's like "You funneled me to this?"

Same tips everyone else said: Don't lock on (unless he's airborne, then do lock on to keep track of him), and aim for the missing leg.

Heavily disagree, large enemies require lock on because their weak spots need precise aiming. A boss like Bayle especially requires lock on because his moves require you to dodge at precise distances before he sweeps in ultra-fast.
