ELDEN RING
Wait why is Tarnished considered a hero exactly?
You invade castles, kill everyone and take their stuff. What part of that is heroic to you? What you bring freedom to these lands? Freedom from what?

Oh look - it's another fanboy trying to justify atrocious writing. How about people like you come up with new arguments? I've seen yours before and they haven't been convincing or impressive before and aren't now.

And the typical "you're just to dumb to get it if it's not spoon fed" attempt to talk down to people doesn't make you appear smart or sensible. It just makes you come across as someone pitiful.
Ah, so your argument is 'wah, wah, I don't wanna read.' Got it.

You want to complain and sit on your high horse, and that's all. Fine.

Shut up.
Elden Ring doesn't have a proper story narrative. It has a bunch of post-it notes that tries to create the illusion of a story which is just useless background lore though.

It's something one might want to read if the main story narrative is actually good. Elden Ring's narrative is basically non existent though. Therefore the post-it notes are useless. And no I will not go through thousands of items trying to puzzle something together that might remotely resembling some useless lore.

Dfq are you talking about. Opening cinematic shows people being given grace and resurrected as a result is not a term heavy sentence. Neither is dragon communion, it's in the name. Cast out like the tarnished is super obvious in context.

Are you just doing a little bit of trolling or what? :squirtyay:

You might be on to something here ^^

Yeah for sure lol
You are guided by the Greater Will (the Grace). Literally the Mandate of Heaven, if you will. May not be "the Hero", but the Chosen one for sure.

"You invade castles, kill everyone" - they are kinda suffering from the undead condition anyways. They can't really die, since the Marika snatched the rune of Death. And they can't happily live, since their brains go bzzzz.

The opening cinematic of Elden Ring is a whole lot of babble without any context.

"Arise ye tarnished" can mean anything. Was Gideon dead and resurected? Within the game it doesn't appear that way as he (based through dialogue) had been taking care of Nephali Loux for a long time. Gold Mask? There no context to or proper information about anything that dude does.

Interactions with Fia in the game also do not relate to anything said in the opening cut scene of the game.

Everything within the opening cut scene is just cryptic for the sake of being cryptic and it doesn't even set my own character up in any meaningful way. I'm just a "tarnished of no renown". There's no actual goal to anything I'm doing. The only thing driving me is "kill boss and get weapon"

You might think I'm trolling but I'm 100% serious about this. The writing in Elden Ring is atrociously bad. Oh and when I discussed this with friends I even got laughed at for even caring about the story in the first place. "You don't play Elden Ring for the story. It's about killing bosses" That is literally the response I get...

I really got frustrated with just the opening alone. Like what the ♥♥♥♥ is “beyond the fog?” The impression I have now is like “are we talking about the Shadow Lands????” In Demon’s Souls that has very specific meaning. You’re from outside the infected zone of Boletaria. Even the opening fight and area with Grafted Scion is the WORST opening I’ve ever seen in this type of game. But I hope you know that “found footage” is a type of narrative/story lol.

The lands where FS games play have always been "beyond the fog", starting in King's Field. It's an expression for quasi-mythical places far away that you normally can't reach. It may mean more than that in individual games.

How is the grafted scion worse or different than the demon in Demon's Souls I wonder.

No, if you actually played Demon's Souls you'd realize it's not a genre meaning here. It's a very clear, narrative and plot exposition explanation. lmfao. You're bullshitting then, got it.
I've been saying it all along, and you nerds kept fighting me on it. #RadahnWasRight #AllOtherEmpyreansAreBad.

Morgott didn't beat that dude's ass so some weirdo can slip in to lie about who the best Empyrean is.

Dude, what did I just say? "It may mean more than that in individual games."

Time and again your answers reek like argumentative trolling, bro. My comment was perfectly reasonable without any grounds to rail against and even going to "lmfao. You're bullshitting"...

Coming in to try to pat me on the head about the fact that it's a mythological device is literally not saying anything I didn't know. You even speculate out loud about how "I wonder what the difference is between Grafted Scion and a game I don't understand." Like, if you have no basis of knowing what I'm criticizing because you never played Demon's Souls, trying to "explain" something I already knew to me, which is that "Beyond the Fog" is an area outside of The Lands Between is asinine. I even told a friend of mine that and how it's just nonsensical to plop the player at the Chapel of Anticipation and have this kind of nonsequitur, gamey/unmotivated battle is such a stark contrast to the way Demon's Souls opening area was, the very thing it's in the tradition of, which was absolutely clear about what the player had done and was attempting to do.

I'm explaining something you clearly don't know now, but you responded to me like somehow the opposite is the case. It's not the least bit annoying.

Empyrean list -

Marika - turned into a sadistic narcissist.
Ranni - murdered her brother and plunged the world into a death spiral to try to stop the whole murderous gods cycle from continuing at all. Also set herself on fire.
Gloam-Eye Queen - Raised a cult of god killers who like to wear people's skins. Might be our pseudo-maiden.
Malenia - Did EVERYTHING for the sake of her brother. Turned into a rot goddess.
Miquella - Is the reason his sister turned into a rot goddess. Was virtuous, threw it all away for power.

Empyreans kinda suck.

The premise of Dark Souls (even though that one is paper thin as well) somewhat is sensible. It's pretty clear there that you are basically dead and just a soul within something of a prison. I'd say the demon you fight at start is something of guard in that place.

The goal for your character also is basically just "survival" or at least fight for existence because if you do not absorb more souls you go "hollow" and perish. Everything outside of that in the game is just as nonsensical as Elden Ring is though.

The opening of Elden Ring cannot even provide anything resembling the premise of Dark Souls. It gives the resemblence of being the same yet tries to be different and fails completely with that right from the start. In theory my character not participating in the fight for the elden ring doesn't really have any negative consequences for myself. There's no urgency to do anything.

As far as I'm concerned let Gideon, Fia or Golde Mask be Elden Lord. Why should I care? There's literally nothing there...

All souls game always were about cycles, ages seemingly eternal who are not.
And it's all about Will Power ! Your character is just going forward, killing almost everything he encounters, because almost everything is mad and that you are the will of the end of the cycle incarnate...

See, I said what I did to basically test if you were full of ♥♥♥♥ and you basically are. "Uh you're undead." Demon's Souls is literally the most explicit, unambiguous as to what this type of character is in the entirety of this genre. You have no idea what you're talking about with all that other nonsense because you're failing to see what I'm criticizing.

Who except you said I don't know Demons Souls? Why immediately assume someone else has no clue?

You attempt to invalidate any mentions of realms "beyond the fog" because Demons had a very specific fog. I just stated correctly that FS has always liked to put their setting "beyond the fog". If the Lands Between are hidden beyond the fog it doesn't automatically not make sense because of Demons. "Beyond the fog" does not have to be a specific area from Demons. Can you get that instead of immediately going "You never played this! Lmfao! You're bullshitting!"
