Sunken Chapel lift kills me instantly

Both me and my friend are encountering a bug where everytime we try to go up the Sunken Chapel lift, it kills us insttantly. We were playing on seamless co-op but the bug still persists in un-modded game. I havent seen anyone else with this issue online.

I think I figured it out. When I spawn at the sunken chapel site, the water is drained. But when I spawn by the church district entrance, the water is not drained. Ill try draining again and see if that fixes it

This is the way, doing this caused enemies we hadn't seen in my seamless game to spawn in and the elevator no longer killed us.
