Is Cold my best option?
So, been messing around with a Str/Int build, being 45 each, and i was wondering if Cold is my best bet, when it comes to infusions.

With Heavy i lose out completely on Int scaling, and with Magic, Str heavily suffers, while Cold has passable with both.

So yeah, i wonder if i should just stick to Cold, or if theres some reason to use the other two.

I'm no guru of this game, but if I remember right frostbite is one of the more consistently viable damage types

It depends on the weapons you want to use. I think cold would be better overall since your going for a mover even split between str and int. I have a build with 58 str 20 int that mostly uses somber weapons but aside from a wave of darkness stick my stuff is heavy infused. You should try the carian thrusting shield, it works great two handed for str int builds.

cold is a good choice unless you like the freedom of buffing your weapon

I rarely ever do that tbh.

I do know about the Carian Thrusting Shield, but since its currently bugged, i would rather avoid its usage.

(The Blocking Thrust attack receives extremely low Stamina Dmg)

Hopefully it gets fixed soon. It's my new favorite weapon and I love free aiming the jump attacks.

What weapons by the way? I always find str/int and dex/fth to be the outlier builds.

Carian thrusting shield and thrusting shields are broken in general.

There is a bug with its block frames that on top of everything else it has going for it just makes them unfortunately just too strong to keep around. This glitch allows stamina to regen during block recovery and even with zero boosts to stability you take less stamina damage than fingerprint.
Thrusting shields got banned in the competitive PvP scene.

But, uh, definitely cold with 45/45.

Cold should definitely be your go-to on Str/Int, but just bear in mind the resistances of bosses/enemies.

It is entirely worth having a heavy infused big weapon, because when two handed you will be treated as having 67 Strength.

I highly recommend getting to 60 Strength (or at least 54 to hit the 80 soft-cap when two-handed).

The reason being is that you will want a heavy infused weapon for magic/frostbite resistant bosses, and use buffs like Exalted Flesh (which boosts only physical damage) and weapon grease to add a decent element to it.

Well the built is largely cause of the Royal Greatsword, which is one of my favorite weapons, and sadly, you pretty much have to built into it since not that many weapons with similar requirements or scaling.
