"Mausoleum Carian Sovereignty Knight of Solitude"
Plus, Mimic.
"Lots" meaning a dozen streamers aka people who do nothing but play these games 80+ hours a week.
Out of 5+ million players.
Yeah, lots of people doing no-hit runs.
Refusing to use tools the game gives you to give yourself an arbitrary challenge is fine, but not all "bosses should be beatable by whatever arbitrary strategy I want to use". The game gives you these tools for a reason. It's like saying you should be able to beat Malenia with a colossal weapon stringing together combos at will, because that's how you want to play the game.
I beat the dlc and Radhan is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss as almost all of these dlc bosses are. Your "git gud" argument immediatly falls apart when someone beat the boss.
This + all the things they don't fix, like this damn camera who bother us since Demon's Souls -_-
being the final boss doesnt excuse having outright unfair hitboxes that reach way past his swords and the cross slash that you have to either have to straight up predict when hes going to do it and dodge the milisecond he starts the animation or use a specific ash of war or talisman to avoid.
Hes unintuitive
His earthshaker attack he does when he puts his swords in the ground? Yeah you cant jump that when literally every other boss with an attack like that could be avoided
How about his starcaller call follow up? It hits like 7 times so you cant roll through it but gaius has an identical move and you can roll through it no problem.
Hes a cool boss not denying that but hes by all means unintuitive.
And before anyone gets all huffy: im not saying hes undodgeable or impossible, Ive beaten him multiple times and while i have defeated him i have found little enjoyment past his 1st phase, they took all the cool ♥♥♥♥ you could do with every other boss and tossed that out the window for "difficulty"
Sure hes harder but let me tell you jumping horah louxs earth shaker and doing a jump heavy punish him feels a helluva lit better than having to roll radahns earthshaker and get behind him.
Gaius sucks but being able ti dodge his gravity rock storm and punish him immediately feels way better than having to immediately run from radahns starcaller call because "♥♥♥♥ you you cant roll it to punish you HAVE to run away because i said so"
Hes allowed to be difficult, but to achieve that a lit of the fun factor was left behind.
"He's not hard.
I can't beat him."
Pick one.
That being said Consort Radahn is not one of those bosses. When you have a boss that makes Malenia look fair and balanced in comparison You know you have a nasty case of "we want the player to feel really miserable." like Malenia atleast has very clear signals on what she does and when the blade dance is on it's way.... Consort Radahn in Phase 1, does this well too. The phase 2 however is just designed the be really unfair, tilted and chaotic. Radahn has alot of combos and attacks he can just cancel out of and he will just spam attacks on you that are hard to tell that are coming because the cameraman(the real final boss of souls games) and the epileptic seizure effects of the boss fight make it a chore to try and keep track what he is doing if you can see it at all that is. "well its the final boss of all of souls" so that is all reason you need to make a thoroughly unsatisfying boss that is just designed to be unfair unless ofcourse you have one specific build which is High poise, Shield path. where you have to learn nothing about the boss and you just tank it, and bleed/poison/rot him until he is dead. which makes the boss a joke.
You can learn the phase 2, That is not the argument, the problem is that it will take longer than you can reasonably expect from a player. even a veteran. because I can do dodge dex build the phase 1 easily without taking hits. But as soon as Phase 2 starts I get wiped out and it takes longer to learn Phase 2 when my punishment for missing a single dodge is to do Phase 1 over and over again. And as result I fail to form a phase 2 mindset when I spend majority of the time doing Phase 1.
FromSoft looked at Malenia boss fight reception and took all the wrong lessons from it.
