if I missed the holy whetblade, can I still mess with holy weapons in the DLC?
I only realised I'd missed it last night, and don't exactly want to have to go through NG+ to just get this item, especially since I want to just play the DLC.

It seems Holy is actually decent for the DLC enemies though, so wanted to check it out.

Dopes this just mean I'll have fewer options, and can only use weapons I find with Holy on them?

I honestly have no idea how I missed it to begin with. I made sure to collect the items from the capital, but did have a large break in my gameplay. I also did not realise I was going into the Malekith fight. I thought it was a dragon.

There are ashes of war that can have Holy put on them even without the Whetblade, like Sacred Blade. So that's an option i guess

You can still infuse it if you have a Sacred Ash of War

You can use an Ash of War which has itself holy affinity, like sacred blade (pretty decent one)
But you can't use a different Ash of war and change affinity its to holy.

Yeah, I went into Malekith fight, thinking it was a Dragon. I didn't expect to beat it first time, but I had my mimic tear summoned.

I got everything else, just forgot to get the whetstone.

Thanks. Will this still be worthwhile?

I assume there must be some new Holy weapon that people are using, too, or is it just Holt damage is great, or something?

Do you know if I can get someone to drop it for me, or does that only work with weapons?

Ashes can be dropped yeah. Which ashes did you want?

Holy damage was always great against death type of enemies, like skeletons, deathbirds, mariners etc. With active sacred blade, you can also stop skeletons from rising again.
Only, most of the main bosses in base game are resistant to holy, which makes holy damage a bit questionable. But, it's always good to have a holy weapon in the pocket for some random catacombs or cemeteries.

I'm not sure, which is a good new holy weapon in the DLC. But the whetblades only affects smithing stone weapons with changeable Ash of war. Somber weapons have their unique skill and affinity, which can't be changed. You have to check the damage stats, if the weapon also deals holy damage

I meant the Whetstone, sorry.

Thanks.

I'm just completely unsure what to go for in the DLC. I'm still a dex/magic build from the basegame, but presume that I'll likely respec into something new, and use one of the new weapons.

I did a quick search for best damage types in DLC, and Holy was on top, with pure STR being second. As I don't have the whetstone for holy builds, I panicked a bit... like am I going to be locked out of some of the best builds now.

Hopefully this isn't the case.
