Poisonous swamp area

So I'll admit I'm not looking at the map in the game right now, I closed my computer and I'm making this post on my cell phone right now.

Basically I've played the game for about 10:00 or so hours and I'm like level 35 and I've been following the roads South and I just encountered a long road toward this gigantic Tower fortress thing that is shooting gigantic bolts at me as I'm riding my horse down the road. Anyways, about halfway down the road or so, there is a big swamp with ruins in the middle and there are all these zombie like creatures walking around screaming in agony along with at least one giant crab enemy and a bunch of those green things that lurk towards you.

Anyway, the point of this thread is does anybody know anything special about this area? This has to be one of the coolest things that I've seen in my 30 years of gaming. Just the atmosphere of the area alone is really interesting to me. You have to ride your horse in there otherwise you constantly start getting poisoned

Ah, you're in the Weeping Peninsula? That little swamp is mostly there for a change of scenery. There might be a scarab or something, I don't remember off the top of my head. But yes, poison swamps are a big strength of Fromsoft's. You'll encounter several much bigger ones in other areas. I'm glad that you're enjoying the environment so much though! Have fun disabling the thing shooting at you.

Yes, that's correct. Sorry, I forgot the name of the place. Yeah I just thought this area was so interesting and the enemies in it are just really really cool. I honestly wish I could fight them more often LOL
