The fingerprint shield tactic has ruined the dlc for me lol.

Don't know if I'm the only one but after watching bosses get cheesed with the fingerprint shield and spear combo has made me far less interested in finishing the dlc. I mean I thought the dlc was hard but watching someone just destroy everything with that tactic makes me wonder why I'm even playing. Why make these complex, difficult bosses if they can just be cheesed like that? The games difficulty seems to be dependant on your level of masochism.

Edit: Okay I think I know why this bothers me. The devs have provided too many ways to remove all challenge from the game, which is why saying you "beat the game" doesn't mean anything. The issue for me isn't boss balance but player power balance. I want to use every item I can to win, get every upgrade and tree fragment, but all this without turning bosses into a joke. Elden ring just does not provide the kind of challenge I am looking for. I'll only get that if I tie my hands behind my back.

Just don't use it? I only used it for the final boss because I didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to get through phase 2.

The issue is that you have been fed the lie that finishing this games is some sort of important accomplishment: it isn't, its just a videogame that is programmed for you to beat it.

What you need to do is stop drinking the kool aid and see the game for what it is: a game, a very flawed game and if you don't enjoy this game or you can't find anything you like about this game then stop because this games aren't an achievement, this games aren't more than a game, stop believing the fanatics, stop drinking the kool aid, save yourself from this cult.

I saw some crazy damage with the impenetrable thorns spell other players were doing so slapped it on my INT character and these bosses went down in literally a couple hits. As hard and challenging as they tried to make the DLC, there are ways to just absolutely trivialize it.

Have you seen Thrusting Shields yet? They're pretty powerful too.

I won't bother using shields in my solo play, but I might use them for co-op. Some of the bosses are a menace online.

People make the game far easier all the time by using magic, summons, coop. Never made game less fun for me.

It's not really a "false" challenge. People still have to figure all this stuff out and most people will simply play the game on their own without looking at other people play it.

On top of that, you create your own challenge. And you obviously also try to have fun. At least you should.
You use different builds, mess around with various weapons etc etc etc.

Cheesy tactics exist in virtually every game ever made, does that fact ruin every game ever made for you now? Are you gonna quit gaming now? Of course not. So why is it an issue with Elden Ring?

You can still have fun with the game. You can ignore this specific build and do one you WANT to play.

Hell, speedrunners have been "ruining" these games ever since DS1 where you can avoid like 90% of the entire game. Hasn't ruined the game for anyone yet though.

As far as I'm concerned, the shield+spear tactic works against nearly every boss and enemy in Elden Ring, so letting this tactic specifically affect your DLC experience is a little weird.
