Bosses do not scale with player level in DLC
Just want to clear this missinformation up.

I have seen many level 713 players claim that they got no advantage since bosses do scale
with player level in DLC.

I was very surprised about this information since the base game is completely different and i cant find anything in official patch notes.

It seems some players misunderstood a miazaki interview about Sadutree leveling system.

So i put it to the test.

I used cheat engine to build 2 chars.

1 level 250
2 level 450

i pumped the 450 one all in useless stats like mind and intelligence with a strengtth build.

I locked Rellana into place with cheat engine so she could not move and not damage me.

i poked r1 with both chars.

Results:
Exact same damage numbers and exact same health bar loss of boss
So no the boss neither had more HP nor did he take less damage on my level 450 char.
It did not scale at all.

Plz stopp spreading missinformation !
thank you

think about what levels in mind and intelligence do to a pure strength char in terms of dealing damage ?
yepp nothing ofc

This got people thinking that actually leveling up is some kind of disadvantage in the game, but the reality is, leveling up is always an advantage, no matter what. You increase your level, the game gets easier, period. You stay at a lower level, the game is harder, no matter what.

Yes, as a max level character thats the impression i got from every single From bit of information about the challenge. Nevertheless at max RL and NG i was getting two shotted so the advantage i have in the base game (until i hit the snowfields) was nowhere to be found.

I ended the first expansion clear with 14 (cant remember) blessings and Radhan kicked my ass for 4 straight hours....yesterday i two shotted him with everything (including blessings maxed.).

Read all the way through. The extra levels were put into useless stats like Mind and Int.
so both characters with same amount of str?

Well SaduTree Fragments matter a lot more than char levels !
easy as that.

I dont know if you are smoking right now ?`
you seem pretty high ?

both chars were identical
i created 1 char with cheat engine
than copied the save
in 1 save i increased mind and int to 99 and also put couple points into some other random stats

besides that chars were identical

Everyone, read the entire post. He put the extra levels into a stat that will not impact his damage dealt. If the bosses have the same amount of health regardless of player level (OP confirmed they do), and their defenses are the same allowing the player to deal the same amount of damage (OP also confirmed), then we know that player level does not impact our ability to kill the boss.

Summary: you do not disadvantage yourself by leveling up

The difference between 60 and 99 vigor is 200 HP. Which helps but is not gonna make you that much tankier.

Meanwhile 0 blessings double the damage you take.

Yes as i posted in another thread you pretty much have a "complete" and perfectly balanced character able to use everything in the best way possible and resilient enough to do anything with everything as 60. Anything above that helps of course, specially with Radhan rune but not a game breaker anyways.

Conclussion: Number of NG+ cycles and Scooby-Doo blessings, thats what determines the level of challenge in the expansion.

So I wonder if the DLC in NG+ is tuned with the expectation that you're already close to maxed on those.

Which would explain why even high levels on a first run through DLC on NG+ could get destroyed by mobs.
Would the fragments/ashes refresh on a NG+ tho? Or would they be perma-gone llike the Seeker's Tokens from Dragon's Dogma 2? XD

the same way it affects the enemies everywhere else in the game

As someone who completed a second expansion clear i can confirm they respawn. You can get a good amount of them before Renella (the boss you have to beat to move further in the DLC).

It is very simple to check. You go offline and create a new character. You turn on some trainer that is able to lower and raise the lvl of the character. You go into the DLC and set lvl 1 and set lvl 713. The difference in damage received is significant.
I checked it myself and felt the difference. However, scaling is not every one lvl but every tens or hundreds so people will not feel it.
--------------
I did this some time ago so I don't remember well what the differences in damage are. I think at lvl 1 you take 25-45% less damage. I tested this on my first new game, same armor, all the same. I only changed lvl and didn't have any buffs from the DLC.
---------------
I was looking for information on the Internet if it is possible to turn it off somehow or if there is a mod that removes lvl scaling. The only thing I found were threads and forums where people try to convince others that there is no such thing as lvl scaling.

This DLC is the worst piece of game design From Software ever did in its history.

Have you played Shadow Tower? No? I didn't think so.
