My greatest Shame
I am ashamed to even say this; I never finished Elden Ring (mostly due to it simply being massive, I also quite suck and am a tryhard), now since the DLC is out and I got a couple of free days, I want to finish the main game (and maybe even the DLC).

All my playtime was mostly to the main game release in Feb 2022, I've maybe played 10 hours in between than and the last couple of days since I got back into it, but sadly I have forgotten alot of knowledge about the game.

I am wondering about balance, buffs and nerfs, stuff that was added;
I am lvl 165 (freaking stuck at Malenia) using 2 Rivers of Blood (friend dropped me his), no Armor, light load.

Ive always liked Moonveil the most, but I think back then Rivers of Blood was too OP.
Which Katana reigns supreme now ?

Were there any other things that got changed/added in the mean time, that I should be aware of ?

I am sorry for wasting your valueable time, and Id appreciate some feedback.

Have a nice day.

Just use Mimic in Base. Problem solved. Stop getting talked out of using the tools Or even worse talking yourself out of using all your tools.

I don't care what People think. Most of them are Frauds that didn't beat Sekiro because you can't farm your way to greatness. I actually got gud:)

If you're a fan of katanas, the best is probably either Moonveil or Nagakiba now. There's also the Great Katana, which is worth a look and can be acquired right at the beginning of the DLC without even needing to fight a single enemy.

Still, it's not as though RoB is bad now. It's still a very competitive weapon, it's just not the broken "I win" button it used to be.

I dont mean any disrespect, If people want to use Mimic, feel free, but I dont, I want to beat every boss all alone, I got the time even if it takes alot of time.

I heard about the Nagakiba alot, but never used it, I also dont know much about the whole system with Ashes of War and how it changes the scalings (?), do you have any tips regarding the Nagakiba ? Id like to try it. Edit: Would the Nagakiba/Moonveil combo be good overall or do they not complemant each other ?

RoB is still good,
Well all of the katana's are good, really
Nagakiba's range, and you can put different AoWs and affinities on it, probably makes the best, but that is subjective.
Now we have great katanas, the larger, slower version. I personally don't like them.
The dragon one is good vs Dragon's (shocker I know) as the AoW is good that whacking them in the head.
and there is one new magic focus Katana The "STAR-LINED SWORD" which is the Moonveil on crack.

I understand but Malenia is old hat... there's so much worse in the DLC. So much worse lol

I don't see anything that can be considered shameful, so i'll assume that's a hyperbole. If you don't feel like completing the game, don't. Nothing wrong with it as long as what you have played is satisfying.

Are these from the DLC? Because I dont know what you're talking about, lol. Im not there yet.
I also prefer faster combat, so I probably wont be using those "great katanas", though I will try them out at least.

I sure hope so!
I like a hard game, makes it feel like you accomplished something once you beat it :).

Yea the great Katana's are from the DLC as is the Star-lined Sword.
Pre-DLC, Nagikiba, RoB, The Hand of Melania, Ugchikatana, and Moonveil.

Nagakiba is the sword you get from Elenora's quest on in Altus. I can't remember the dudes name wearing the weird bucket hat. It's a long katana.

The other ones mentioned are DLC items.

You're in for a treat. The final boss kicked my tail for 5 hours and I've been playing these games for 10 years. It was so much fun being thoroughly challenged and coming out victorious
