Following a simple guide or checking on YT how to max out your weapon early or similar advices can, however, make the game really easy.
Not everything needs to be fought, if you want you can run past a lot of enemies. Some enemies are even designed to come back to later.
The enemies have a hidden stat called 'stance', heavy and jumping attacks, and some powerful ashes of war can help deplete this stat. This staggers the enemy and in a lot of cases gives you a powerful critical attack.
This will minimize, but not eliminate, the dying. Having peace with that may help with your enjoyment of the game.
My suggestion is to play this as a co-op game. You will only have to git moderately gud as they say.
Give it some time, use the Spirits and train against Knight enemies by not attacking, just learning to dodge
Many bosses want you to dodge their combo before you get your hit in, the more you learn the more you get cheeky in-between attacks in
Also Vigor gets scaled up in effectiveness after 20VIG, so you get a huge chunk of health when pumping it up from 20 to 30
Also this:
if you watch a video on starting tips, you can get some basic stuff like the importance of leveling VIGOR to at least 20 (probably 30-40) ASAP and eventually probably to 60. you can also get tips on powerful starting items to make it easier you can google Rotten Stray for a very powerful pet you can get early. it's a bit of an exploit, but it will help a lot in the starting area
what is your starting class and character plan (magic, sword/shield, etc)? people can give tips on good starting items to make the kit work well
I have allready said in another thread.
My best RL friend tried ER as his first Souls game and made it to Fire Giant on his own.
He is one of the worst players on a gamepad i have ever seen in my life.
But he is pretty smart. He used everything the game offers and he looked up guides and youtube videos on where to collect good items etc...
Now since he could not beat Fire Giant even with mimic and op weapons we converted his save to seamless coop and i joined him also converting one of my saves to seamless
did finish the game as coop with me killing the bosses for him.
I can honstley tell without hate but just as a fact that he has 0 talent for action games
and 0 sense of timing or when to press buttons on a gamepad.
Yet he made it to Fire Giant.
This should tell you a lot.
Beginner tipps
1.) When exploring always use a 100% phys shield ! This makes your life sooo much easier
2.) always use spirit ashes when you can
3.) Overlevel as much as you can
If he is so smart why didn't he realize Fire Giant is easy to defeat with Latenna? She can take it down without any help from you. Odd he didn't find this as it's in virtually every post and many youtube videos.
