Do I need the cook book for Moore's questline? Cook book 2 is broken?

So, I told more to put everything behind him. He left his initial spot. I didn't do the thing between him in thioliel but whatever. But whats weird is even tho Moore is very well alive, the kindred of rot that has forager cook book 2 is dead and won't give me the cook book. Every other one is alive so whats the deal? Not to mention everyone say I need all six but I feel like my questline so far has progressed like everyone says it does. I have gotten to the last dungeon, so maybe something goes wrong there. Can someone clarify these things? I can't find a single guide that isn't vague as hell.
