Get greatbow and colossal weapon. Wear heavy armor and use a great shield. Invest in strength and just smack it. Colossal weapon for when you can get up close and a great bow for when you're too far away. Smack it harder and it'll die.
Magic works okay, if that's what your heart is set on it there are a few skills which work well. Something like Ancient Death Rancor is pretty good against these targets. You don't need to charge the spell, it does okay stance pressure and its damage is pretty good. Night comet is also good since enemies don't register it as an attack so it should help you get to the boss fight. Loretta's greatbow can work if you're too far away but its risky and should only be used if you know you're safe. To add tot he build take either Darkmoon greatsword or Death's poker since both of them have strong ash of war skills which will work far better in melee than any spell you could run.
If you want to go faith I feel this is better. Focus on Fire spells mostly. A few non-fire spells will work, don't use holy spells. There are some really strong holy spells but elden beast is super resistant to holy. Ancient dragon lightning strike chunks through health of larger targets. Frenzied burst should be the ranged option. Its similar to Loretta's Greatbow in utility but a far superior spell most the time because its quicker and its range isn't that much lower. Black Flame is good, catch flame is good, Giantsflame take thee is pretty good. Pest threads are okay, I've used them a few times. I personally didn't like them because of the longer animation lock and its damage wasn't that great. In the Expansion there's Pest Thread Spear which is worth the animation lock but if you're waiting to do the expansion or don't have it its not needed. For weapons the main one is Blasphemous Blade. But Godslayer's greatsword is good as is Vike's War spear.
I've played a lot. And you don't need to focus on magic to beat it. If you want to use the Mimic tear that's fine. I use it a lot but Tiche and Dung Eater are also exceptional. If you're going to be running a strength heavy weapon user I'd suggest Tiche or Mimic. If you're going Magic I'd suggest Dung Eater. Mimic will do fine if you're more hybrid but mimic is less aggressive than Tiche or Dung eater so depending on your build they might only act as a meat sponge some of the time.
Don't use torrent cuz when it starts spamming right after you call torrent you may get hit.
If you wanna melee then Greatsword with lion claw deletes it too.
Huh, interesting. I'll check it out in my NG+ run, but I just got to the DLC and wanted to do that first before becoming the ultimate Elden Lord
Thanks for letting me know tried it against him using a knights twin blade and decimated him in a few hits.
