Secret Intelligence Caster Rapier

When I first saw this thing from the description I kind of thought it was just another one of those rapiers that shoots magic with a charged heavy attack.

But no it straight up replaces your heavy with any spells you are running.

The mix up potential is super nice here, you got your impaling thrust, your shield pokes, your guard counters, your normal rapier r1 spam.

Then you also get literally any spell you want to cast, sure it won't be a dmg dealers, twin moons only did like 3000 dmg, but you get to battle cast it point blank when opponents don't expect it.

I also felt the poise interaction was stronger then usual but that might have just been me, whenever I cast a spell with a normal staff poise values don't matter and I instantly get stunned, but with rapier you just face tank.

Anyone try the casting pig sticker?

It's dmg is much the same as an intelligence straight sword so its pure dmg economy is pretty much normal as well so you can just teleport around and poke people if you want.

you cant infuse or change ash, the scaling is horrendous and it seems to have less than half damage of the best catalysts in the game, just use a normal catalysts, it really needs a buff

On a scale of Tin Banishment Catalyst to Blue Flame, I give it a solid 6.

Good traits:
It's a rapier
It can pretend to be a longsword with Carian Slicer
It looks nice
It can be obtained without fighting any Land of Shadow bosses

Bad traits:
Low AR
Low sorcery scaling
Can't change Ash of War
Seriously, it should've come with a new Carian Piercer AoW instead of the basic Impaling Thrust

If you don't play with a shield, just having a Cold infused sword/rapier and a regular staff is better. Slicer → Slicer → Impaling flows well, but it's not much different functionally from a straight sword R1 → R1 → R2.

Yeah but you can teleport and stab while blocking. It's also possible certain sorceress true combo with rapier or roll catch.

Trust when I say I understand numbers go burr I have seen the burriest of numbers but sometimes in pvp a teleporting rapier player with a full casting spellbook could be scarier.

You could also go for a dual wield rapier set up so your teleporting around for the powerstance attacks.

I think it would be silly to say nothing is there.

Like people thought boss weapons were bad, whoops they one shot.

Fiend weapons are bad insta bleed.

Throwing weapons are bad, nevermind they are insane.

Pretty much everytime someone says something is bad because of basegame logic they are spectacularly wrong.

it's cute as a concept, but it's like the sh*ttiest staff and the sh*ttiest sword in the game combined into one impossibly weak weapon with a terrible AoW.

And the best part is that it's a one-handed magic/dex sword, so as a mage you're likely gonna run a staff on the other hand regardless.

Well as always we are just gonna have to wait for PVP arena videos where some teleporting rapier user is styling on people.

Same way all this other stuff got popular so far.
