ELDEN RING

Low skill gamers
Anyone else get annoyed by how much people lose their minds to these game's difficulty? I see thread after thread of people who must've been playing Pokemon or Animal crossing their whole life.

It ain't that deep, it ain't even hard, just keep trying and think when something went wrong. If you can't adapt or learn, perhaps you shouldn't be playing these games.

low skill + low patience + high self-importance

I'm not a pro, quite casual now (work, family, other hobbies/passions...), but I've never questioned the difficulty of the Souls games... I finished DS1 / 2 (not the DLCs) / 3 (not Gael and Midir) / Sekiro (6 times, all bosses and minions) and now ER + DLC. I use mimic tear, no problem in that, and for a couple of bosses the online helpers (Malenia, Radagon and Radhan + Consort). I agree with opener... they're difficult games, and you should know that when buying... if you can't, you can't (even with in-game helpers)... no shame in that.

No. It's just funny how seriously some take gaming.

I think patience is actually a greater matter than "skill", because if you are patient and a little open-minded on how to solve challenges, you can get through the whole game just fine. And this will apply to any game - engage with the systems, you will learn them, you will get better, you will beat it.

Unless you're trying to make money from gaming then pro or not it doesnt matter. Its actually kinda sad if you get an ego from gaming if youre not an actual professional player.

elden ring was heavily advertised on youtube (if you happen to have adblock disabled), so it attracted a lot of casuals who thought it is not dark souls 4, but some happy mmorpg in a candyland

I also think unless you aren't a tournament winner, there is not much to brag about video games skills, but still, hard or competitive games boost player's ego.
That's why casuals are upset about difficulty. They have high self-esteem, but the game tells they aren't good enough. unmatched expectation and reality cause frustration, and casuls are mad cuz bad

when I was a kid being a hardcore gamer was a very shameful thing. It would get you laughed at by most serious people unless you were a small child. I say we bring back gaming shame. *suppresses urge to vomit while thinking of his own gaming addiction*

'Member when Elden Ring came out and people cried the game was too difficult because they couldn't beat the Tree Sentinel or Godrick?

Go play again DS1 and come back on the difficulty topic.
I've played all of these FS games many times and did a lot of coop to beat the bosses again and again, and really they dropped some serious BS with this DLC.
They pushed the slider too far to a point where many seasoned players don't enjoy the process.
Maybe they are now targetting people who just want some challenge and like to waste time learning arbitrary AI patterns.
Before that the main topic of these games was the story and the atmosphere, the challenge was there just to emphasize the story, it was not there for its own sake.
This DLC is poorly designed. Empty world, weak mobs, boring lore, horrible boss fights. It feels like they just made it for the sake of making a hard challenge.
I think there's much more worthwile challenges in life (learning languages, playing instruments, crafts, arts etc.) than winning over a computer lol

What I see is many people who beat last boss says that he was too hard and unfun.
I beat him and my opinion is he worse than bed of chaos. Too hard to beat him as intended, too easy if cheese.

It's maybe a sequence of the TikTok generation. Buying a game, play it for a few hours, telling everyone it's great, two days later moving on to the next game. So yelling at From Software and all internet forums and social media platforms because game can't be beat in a few hours so it's too hard. Same for movies and series. Longest focus of most people these days seeems to be around 1 minute.

I try to help peple in boss fights but mostly they die before I'm even through the portal. That's a bit frustrating somehow. I understand if that happen sometimes but on some days it happens 5 or 10 times in a row... Makes me thinking they didn't explore the world, collecting shards etc, just running from boss to boss.

the DLC isn't actually that hard. I was able to beat the Lion boss at lvl 135 solo (no spirit ashes, NPC summons). A lot of their combos become predictable and require you to roll towards them a lot of the time. I've beaten Messemer and so far the only boss I've needed to summon for was Renalla and I beat her the first time I used a summon lol, only because a lot of her hitboxes are insanely broken.
