I'm fairly sure Nioh 2 did something like this, tatarimokke I think? The mission was definitely more annoying than memorable. I really enjoyed the vibe of the abyssal forest but I agree it could've been done better.
This is my main issue as well. It's a fairly big area that doesn't allow Torrent to be used, but has virtually nothing in it.
The only really relevant thing there is Midra, and he's all the way in a corner.
I was hyped for more madness enemies in general, really disappointed we got basically nothing.
