Easiest way to beat the final boss

Fingerprint stone shield + blood bloodfiend's spear with turtle and greatshield talisman. Just block and poke. Turns the fight into an absolute joke and it's not satisfying but if you just wanna beat him it doesn't get easier than this.

I am nowhere near final boss. Still in exploration and resource collection phase.

But reading topics about final boss in DLC I'm getting worried
I will be forced to use shield for the first time since Dark Souls II.

I have Antspur Rapier ready but wonder would Blood Swift Spear
and Black Steel or Erdtree Greatshields combinations work?

Or is it mandatory to use Fingerprint Stone Shield?
Fingerprint requires a lot of strength and it is ugly as sin so I would like an alternative :-)

Wouldn't the black knight shield be better since it has more holy resist?

I just used +25 Brass Shield and it worked fine. There are simply a few attacks that are pointless to fully dodge and it's better to absorb first few strikes with your shield and dodge the final blow. Also parrying works great against the boss.

Any shield with barricade shield aow will work really. Fingerprint is just busted with insane guard boost.

You can just use any shield. What's with this idea that you need the heaviest shield in full STR build to make use of blocking?

Max ANY decent medium shield. put barricade shield on and you can tank through Gaius charge just fine. 10 STR req and 3.5 weight.

Or use deflecting tear and just block with your bloody weapon.

He's not super hard just very unbalanced. The shield is just a way to even the balance a bit. Any shield will work with any weapon. The two mentioned are just the easiest, It's honestly not a fun fight regardless.

Tldr use shield or wait about a month for them to nerf most of the bosses.

Fingerprint has higher guard boost and you take like 10 pixels worth of damage from holy attacks with it. There's no need to reduce it further but yeah bks would work too.

He's not super hard just very unbalanced. The shield is just a way to even the balance a bit. Any shield will work with any weapon. The two mentioned are just the easiest, It's honestly not a fun fight regardless.

Tldr use shield or wait about a month for them to nerf most of the bosses.

Most bosses really don't need any nerfs, it's just radahn's phase 2. I enjoyed every other boss except him.

Judging by how slow and methodical I play there will probably
be patch before I start to fight any major boss anyway :-)

they never nerfed main game bosses, chances are they won't this time either

Just run away and use throwing talisman and toss frost, rot, bleed, whatever knives at it that scale with dex I guess. And just keep running!

they never nerfed main game bosses, chances are they won't this time either

They made him too easy then reverted some of the nerf. He's still nerfed regardless.

They'll do the same to most of the dlc bosses as well to some degree.

I asked few days ago but nobody responded. I was oneshoted 3 times by this attack, two times I was not even the target, and I would have bullgoat chest piece with white mask for that two other tries and the rest of armor would be something different just to cap the equipment load. Full stamina and almost full HP is not enough, I bet if I would just let it hit me, it wouldn't kill me, ever since then I didn't coop radahn.

And high "elemental" defense. Moore's shield has higher guard boost, but you'll get more magic and holy damage bleed through.
