About Radahn
A boss that invalidates 90% of weapons, spells and builds is not a well designed fight. Especially in a game like Elden Ring that prides itself on exploration and having a huge build variety. If your only response to this is git gud or to simply switch to meta build X you are just proving that point. Can I smash my head into a wall for hours to get it eventually? Yes. But at the end of the day a video game should always prioritize one thing: Fun.

Oh i see, it was hard in a way that you were not expecting, and you feel the need to "Critique" it. But what you are doing is not critiquing, here is an actual valid complaint about the boss, every attack blinds you, it is way too bright, especially his hair in phase 2, it is jarring, breaks your focus, and can cause many needless deaths to the boss.

I didn't have any issue with his hair, does that invalidate your "critique"?

Elden Ring is not about fun, it's about friendship

Doesn't "boss that invalidates 90% of weapons" apply to majority of the DLC bosses and like half of the base game bosses?

No. It doesn't apply to Radahn either. Some weapons are easier to use than others obviously, but all weapons can get the job done if you're good enough with them.

There's probably a subset of them that realistically the average player would take 100+ tries to get the job done with (the smithscript blades come to mind, they do like 300 damage a hit and have low status build up), but even then that's well below 90% of builds.

This boss should be updated with an epilepsy warning.

If you're not having fun, don't play. That's entirely a you thing.

Still a lot of people not getting the point of the post, which is about the unrewarding feeling after beating him, and the absolute abscence of fun in the fight. This is actually the only boss in the whole saga that feels wrong, which is quite surprising.

what if he had fun but didnt like one specific boss and want to finish the dlc while also explaining why he dislike the boss ?

I felt rewarded af after beating him though. I've also felt rewarded af beating him for over 50 people since Saturday. Dude is so much fun to fight.

At the end of day this fun may not be for you

If it's unrewarding and not a fun experience, it does not make sense to engage with it.

That's a you thing.

The boss was perfectly fine for me, mechanics wise, though I didn't think much of the lore. One or two small technical gripes.

It doesn't make sense to butt your head against a brick wall because you occasionally get a sense of euphoria from it. Thinking the game should prioritise your own personal idea of fun is nothing short of entitlement. Persisting in something that you find frustrating is literally masochism.

If you can't beat it with your build of choice it's a skill issue. Oh no the game is hard the way you want to play it the devs must be the problem.

If you're not that guy, you're not that guy.

I absolutely agree with OP. I have been playing all Souls games by release in this boss is by far the worst designed boss of all time. It is not even fun, it's just a chaos of eternal combos and random lights, undodgeable explosions... Beating him does not feel rewarding, out of 100 tries you're just praying to the RNG god.
Also, a condition for beating a boss shouldn't be build swapping.
RL1, 0 blessings, no shields or statuses.

The two main issues of the dlc and specially of this boss are the overloaded visuals and the small recovery window between combos. This video shows it perfectly: There is so much going on: beams, rocks, flying boss but the player barely needs to move. This was always the case in any former DS, BB, but it was clearly visible. I beat him with the meta tank build. It's even easier with the new parfume bottles.

You are prooving our point.
Game is at it should be. Not all builds are equal. And they shouldn't be.
Some are stronger, some are weaker.
You want to force your build on Radahn? Then go ahead and try, it is surely doable.

I killed him on 40th try. Cold katana, no spells, no summons, no mimic tear.
If you want all builds to be as good as best one against Radahn, you are deluded.

Go back to playing checkers, if you want all pieces to have the same value, lol
