How to reach the Mohg fight?
I've heard that you have to beat Mohg in order to access the DLC. In my playthrough, even though I explored fairly thoroughly, I only encountered Mohg in the form of a smaller boss fight in a dungeon and beat the game without ever finding the real deal. I am now planning to start a new playthrough looking for the real Mohg.

For this, I was hoping that someone with some expertise about the game could answer me these questions with as few spoilers as possible but as many as necessary (ideally I'm hoping to just get nudged into the game path that will lead me to Mohg):

1. Can you get locked out of encountering the fight? If so, at what point in the story would I have to stop and look for alternative progression opportunities?
2. Do I have to pledge allegiance to Ranni or join the Volcano Manor? As far as I know, these are the only significant parts of the game that I left unexplored due to roleplay reasons.

Thanks in advance for any answers <3

1. if you know how to reach consecrated snowfield, there is a bloody teleport gate near the red flower field where you get invaded by NPC.
2. Varre's quest completion reward you with the honor to be teleported to Mohg's palace.

No, you cant get locked out of finding the area the real mohg is in. You can however get locked out of finding the area early. Like it was already commented there are 2 ways of getting there. One is being tied to a NPC quest, which you can finish rather quickly into your playthrough. But if you kill the NPC for example, it would leave only the second method of getting there, which is located rather at the end of the playthrough in an area called consecrated snowfield.

To get to the DLC you need to kill Radahn and Mohg, You can get to mohg's area either through a portal on your way to the Haligtree or through Varre's quest. You just need to invade an NPC to advance the quest and get a special item

I know. And I do usually prefer to research this kinda stuff on my own to avoid bothering people. I definitely understand where you're coming from. However, I just didn't wanna risk finding too much information and spoiling my second playthrough, which is why I made this post instead. Luckily there were people willing to help.
