lore theory spoilers
Remembrance of Metyr... a magnificently gleaming daughter of the Greater Will, and the first shooting star to fall upon the Lands Between.

Flame of the Fell God: Releases a ball of raging fire said to be inhabited by a fell god. The fireball floats toward enemies and explodes, setting the area ablaze.

Flame of the Fell God is describing Metyr rocketing into the atmosphere of the Lands Between and exploding on contact. Look at the Two Fingers' Prayerbook and compare it to the Giant's Prayerbook. They are practically the same iconography. Now compare the Giant's Seal to the Godslayer's Seal ( which is identical to the Finger Ruins ). These look astonishingly similar.

Metyr got to the Lands Between close to the beginning, adapts to each age, and has been pulling the strings ever since.

The connection to the Godslayers is definitely there. Metyr's face is literally the same symbol as the Black Flame. I'm not so sure about the others though. The symbology all seems different. The Fell God of the Fire Giants red flames and a red color scheme and has either that circular symbol or the third eye. The Godslayers/Godskins have the Black Flame and a bleached color scheme with blacks and greys, and that funky fingerprint for a symbol.

Fell means evil. It has nothing to do with falling in this context.

They BOTH have flames.

Why is that?

Because that's just what it means, otherwise it would say "Flame of a Fallen God". Fell is an adjective in this instance, not a verb.

Thanks. Learn something new everyday. I still think they're playing with words cause that's what they do.

Well yeah, but there are different kinds of flames. Is Messemer affiliated with the Death Rite Birds, or are both of them servants of the Frenzied Flame? Different colors have different meanings.

It is said that long ago,
the Greater Will sent a golden star bearing a beast into the Lands Between,
which would later become the Elden Ring.
