Final boss is just bad (spoiler)
I really was ok with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for a long time, thinking oh surely i'm just bad, they finally brought back having to dodge in the right direction instead of just simply dodging, I wasn't mad with this mindset, but after attempting to dodge the light beams in every direction, I see now that it just isn't a skill issue. I was so certain that "oh, if he swings his sword to the left you have to dodge right since the beams will be closer to you on the left" nope, it just hits you no matter what unless you light roll maybe? I'm not giving up my defense to survive an extra 12% of his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

And just in case the camera doesn't suck, every .5 seconds (every time he attacks) you will not be able to see due to taking holy damage irl. I can barely even outrun the second phase nukes since it destroys my framerate and eats my block inputs so i can't run jump and get a little more speed.

I want to see a genuine guide on how to dodge every single light attack, without cheese or light rolls. I want to be wrong so bad.

Light roll + parry > dbz flashbang idiot

It's still not fun and looks far more goofy than just doing the fight normally

Miquella didn't need Mohg to kidnap him, and he originally didn't need his corpse. It's unclear but Miq needed *something* from Mohg to open access to the land of shadow.

- Malenia was no match for Mohg? Why not just have her cut him down before even taking on Radahn?

Mohg was the key to a gate, not %100 certain Mal knew about Mogh's scheme, but her going to war with Radahn implies she did know about Radahn's involvement, at least to an extent. My running idea is the reason she embraced the rot instead of fighting against it like it seems she previously had been trying to do with the efforts of Miq is because she probably did the whole "If I can't have him, I can at least make sure YOU can't have him" thing, and she basically nuked the place.

What exactly is a consort in this universe?

A LOT of Japanese words get kinda bulk translated to consort, including 王 (king), which is what Miq calls Radahn. You can use the spreadsheet to try and find other examples and/or answers https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pPmlldDdBWP7kX5Mjxx4Tr89e_Dob18l8WzJ8wm401U/edit?gid=2120883513#gid=2120883513

If it's more along the lines of an arranged marriage without the intimacy attached to it, he could have chose anyone....why the trouble of getting Radahn?

"In their childhood, Miquella saw in Radahn a lord. His strength, and his kindness, that stood in stark contrast with their afflicted selves. And so Miquella made his heartfelt wish. That Radahn would one day be his king consort." -Remembrance of a God and a Lord

Miq picked Radahn when they were young, always wanted Radahn to be his Elden Lord when Miq became a God.

Just get the tarnished, we have the capability of killing gods and demi-gods. Charm the tarnished.

That is LITERALLY the same thing as telling him "Just go charm Hoarah Loux" or "Just go charm Dragonlord Placidusax". You don't "just charm" a god killing Elden Lord.

My theory on the course of events is as follows:

-Miq hatches their plan and takes action, probably around the time he is tired of the Golden Order, hence his experiments with unalloyed gold and its interference with the divine(I.E. experimenting on Malenia and finding he can disrupt the Rot Goddess)
-Mohg is used in order to become their key. Dead or alive, doesn't matter.
-Radahn is meant to stop, convince, or kill Malenia
-Radahn is instead turned in a slavering beast due to Malenia's bloom and is no longer able to become Miq's King because of it
-Miq hatches the idea/finds the means to use Mohg as a replacement flesh puppet for Radahn's will/soul
-We come along and shuffle Mohg from his mortal coil, thus enabling Miq's plans

<DLC events occur here>

I know, overall it's a weak-ish theory, but from what I have seen, which is in no way an "in-depth" review of DLC details, it makes the most sense TO ME

Your first few responses really don't answer my questions - seems like you aren't clear on it either.

I'll go to this: "You just don't charm the Elden Lord"

Based on what? Where are you pulling from that a charm wouldn't work on an Elden Lord? And canonically, I'm not even sure the DLC factors in you being Elden Lord. Just that you have a couple great runes.

If he slashes horizontally the light will follow that course, so dodge vertically, into or away from, and viceversa
Everything is dodge able in mid roll, just learn the timing lol

Hes so bad i cant even insta kill him with my disgusting thorns build i can get one good shot in his first phase but after that its unmanageable even with coop distractions because his hit box is all around him.

Let me solo him killed him for me lol

Beat the boss yesterday without any cheese, and I can easily say that this boss is complete BS. Worst part of the fight is how he constantly flashbangs you, FPS drops during certain attacks and how the pillars of light can hit you and eat your inputs or combo into is main attacks... by the time I defeated him I had already mastered every attack of his except for the double slash into the cross slash, which I found to be unavoidable, and even then I felt like I got really lucky to beat him, one thing that I want to point out is how much RNG affects this fight, for example, right after the Miquella explosion attack I was applying my buffs but before I could a random ray of light hits me and interrupts me... like WHY? Why are they even happening outside the giant AoE???

NO matter how many try to defend it the boss is blatant BS. Which is a damn shame because I really liked everything else and it kinda soured the whole DLC experience.

YES RNG. It always amazes me everyone seems to think certain youtubers are so amazing when quite often it was just good RNG.....
I come into the final boss fight, I'm like 'forgot crab' take a bite then BAM he flies across the arena and 2 shots me.....
Other times, I've entered the boss arena and eaten crab and drank physics and there's nothing....thats RNG.
I wonder if there's a way to make it so you only get good RNG.....maybe thats really getting good if you got that. Since the difficulty slides, I wonder how manipulable it is....
Imagine only giving a certain player BAD RNG all the time....wouldn't that be just hillarious.

Watched LobosJr's stream and you can actually parry the boss, which (obviously) shortens his wombo combos to just 1 hit. He beat the boss in only 1 hour, no shield poke, scarlet rot or other cheese.

Lobos parries everything, almost. Very talented. He knows all about RNG.

You really lack reading comprehension or picking up on context cues. It is never explicitly stated that he needs Mohg's body OR corpse, just Mohg himself for access to the land of shadow. Mohg being dead to become a new meat sack for Radahn to be reborn into is just a bonus, or at least most likely. You try to say I am not answering your questions, but then you provide nothing to refute the info I have given, and only come back to me with "but I don't understand so that means YOU must be wrong". Nah, miss me with that ♥♥♥♥

I'll go to this: "You just don't charm the Elden Lord"

Based on the fact Hoarah Loux was never hunted down and charmed. The fact he didn't hunt down extremely powerful beings like that and charm them. A lack of evidence of a charm proves more that he can't than it proves that he won't.

And canonically, I'm not even sure the DLC factors in you being Elden Lord. Just that you have a couple great runes.

Messmer: "Thou'rt Tarnished, it seemeth. Mother, wouldst thou truly Lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light?"

Messmer knows we are either Elden Lord or the candidate to be the next one, which if he knows, you can bet your ass that someone as influential as Miq would know. You think the demi-god that everyone loves doesn't have %100 willing spies in every corner of the land?

Seriously, did you just gloss over even half of the lore implications given to us in the DLC?
phase two is rough but it's manageable after a few attempts. spent three hours on it today and feel like i could beat it every time now
Nifty Jun 30, 2024 @ 1:48am
I beat it after awhile I ended up just trying to out damage him and heal through it. Still have no clue what's going on in the second phase. It's a cool looking fight and the visuals are great but it's a bit meh to actually play

Maybe so. If a player wants to impress me, come in but naked with no weapon and lets see how long you can survive without getting hit. Or get to second phase and just spend time dodging for as long as possible. Like 30 minutes of dodging phase 2 would be impressive.
the vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO3wRm_iAn4
That fight is a minute and a half, so no hit for a minute and a half....thats not too tough....stop fighting and show us how long you can dodge dodge dodge.

So you just have to play the entire fight camera unlocked, barely hitting, saying goodbye even to your few openings, because you need to constantly be running behind him and to the left because you're waiting after every pose to roll the quick slash. Well that settles it, they definitely planned this boss design all along and now it's a great fight.

Oh wait, it's even more complete ♥♥♥♥♥ than I thought.
Not necessarily. You have openings to punish and then continue moving when the animation finishes. Maybe don't just stand their staring him square in the face (unless you plan on parrying). I found plenty of openings to do a fully charged R2 with a colossal weapon. Some I learned I could only do a light attack (his grab) with the weapon I used. Just being in motion gives you an opportunity that otherwise wouldn't exist.

Yeah, but every light attack is too damn bright tho. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flash-bangs me every time i watch the fight.
